Role Summary/Purpose: The Repair and Development Center (RDC) Manufacturing Engineer role will specialize in machining and tooling and will be responsible for identifying, developing, industrializing, and globalizing new machining and tooling repair technology for the services network. You will be responsible for the project management of the RDC machining and tooling projects, supporting technology and productivity initiatives.
Essential Responsibilities: In this role, you will coordinate with Repair Technology Center of Excellence (RTCoE) and Power Generated Services (PGS) teams to drive standardized Computer Numerical Control (CNC) conventional and non-conventional machining process improvements to enable contractual services productivity, as well as transactional services growth.


As the Lead Manufacturing Engineer, you will:


  • Create the special process documents for repair processes developed in the RDC
  • Be responsible for the substantiation of service centers repair process qualifications / certifications
  • Develop new repair process technology to assist component team in implementing repair strategy
  • Perform repair process technology jugular experiments in RDC’s
  • Create repair materials / process technology validation plan in conjunction with component engineers
  • Define industrialized process audit / quality requirements and perform audits of global service centers for adherence to best practices / process requirements
  • Support Machining & Tooling process related readiness to serve for global service centers
  • Lead productivity projects for RDC
  • Interface with Manufacturing Process Engineer (MPE) and design engineering and participate in design reviews for repair development
  • Executes the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements
  • Document the technical data generated by the assigned project consistent with engineering policies and procedures
  • Provide timely communication on significant issues or developments
  • Participate on teams assigned to address organizational initiatives and generic issues
  • Participate as a presenter or reviewer in technical and program reviews
  • Qualifications/Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (OR a High School Diploma / GED with a minimum of 5 years of experience in an engineering or manufacturing environment)
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in an engineering or manufacturing environment
  • Additional Eligibility Qualifications: GE will only employ those who are legally authorized to work in the United States for this opening. Any offer of employment is conditioned upon the successful completion of a background investigation and drug screen.
    Desired Characteristics:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Materials, Manufacturing, Mechanical
  • Experience in Numerical Control (NC) programming in a Computer Aided Design (CAD) / Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAM) environment
  • Experience in operating machine tools
  • Familiarity with Industrial gas turbine design, manufacture, service or repair
  • Experience with global travel and working in a global team environment
