Role Summary/Purpose: The newly formed Current, powered by GE, business has an exciting opportunity for a visionary leader with leadership, commercial and technical experience in
the software, energy management, and / or building control industry with demonstrated ability to succeed in a highly dynamic cross-functional environment.
Essential Responsibilities: The GM, Commercial & Industrial Solutions role is truly a unique opportunity to make a significant impact on the broader energy landscape.
The role offers the opportunity for the right individual to lead the development of a new platform for intelligent, connected buildings, unifying data and
control infrastructure from disparate building systems into a single, integrated system – enabling streamlined operations, superior energy management,
and a suite of applications to improve business outcomes. The GM will be responsible for the overall product strategy and execution of the plan.

The General Manager, Commercial & Industrial SW Solutions will be responsible for :


  • Creating a vision and developing / implementing a strategic plan for a full suite of integrated energy management and building productivity solutions
    to meet a broad spectrum of commercial and industrial customer needs, transforming the way customers think about interacting with their facilities and
    driving strong growth for Current
  • Working collaboratively with the Lighting, Solar, Energy Storage, EV teams and GE Digital to determine the best approaches for software and hardware
    platforms that offer transformative building services
  • Balancing the needs of individual product lines (Lighting, Solar, Storage, EV) to meet each group’s independent needs while also delivering a
    highly differentiated solution that scales to a fully integrated solution set across the full product and partner portfolio
  • Setting a partnership strategy that broadens the solution and GE presence in the built environment
  • Defining, developing and executing a multi-generational global business strategy including portfolio management, NPI execution and go to market
    strategy to achieve Sales, CM, OM and market share objectives
  • Driving competitive differentiation, customer value and product line growth
  • Making appropriate tradeoffs on product technical and commercial investment choices, and managing the overall product life cycle
  • Performing market industry research/analysis, competitive assessments, and customer/market segmentation to identify new growth platforms
    and opportunities
  • Leading a cross functional team balancing numerous direct and dotted-line reports and making key strategic decisions impacting the product portfolio
    and programs
  • Prioritizing GE spending to address the product portfolio strategic needs
  • Driving customer involvement with marketing and sales to understand market needs and developing winning commercial and product strategies
  • Position may be located in San Ramon, CA or Boston, MA
  • Qualifications/Requirements:
  • BS Degree from an accredited university or college, technical discipline preferred
  • Minimum of 10 Years of Product Management and / or Technical Leadership experience in the software or electronics industry
  • Requires strong communication skills and cross functional breadth to provide strong leadership and direction to product teams
  • Requires high energy, assertiveness, and self -motivated individual to work in a fast paced environment with limited direction

    Desired Characteristics:
  • MBA or advanced technical degree from an accredited university or college
  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in Product Management or Engineering experience
  • Ability to create and execute a vision
  • Experience leading a cross-functional team and product portfolio
  • Demonstrated ability to grasp technical landscape, strong technical acumen
  • Must be able to energize teams at all levels of the organization and effectively balance multiple initiatives
  • Strong analytical and statistical data driven skills
  • Proven ability to develop strategy and deliver results
  • Must be able to develop and present new product business cases, cost / benefit analysis, economic modeling, and resourcing plans
  • Deep knowledge of building energy management, lighting controls and demand response markets
  • Deep understanding of SW business models and IoT
  • Strong executive presence and ability to influence cross-functionally and globally
