Role Summary/Purpose: The Commercial Engineering Leader will work directly with our global customers. You will work on real customer challenges, including pilot testing of applications and products. You will also work directly on the modeling of GE Water Winflows simulation program, one of the most comprehensive and advanced design tools in market today. The Commercial Engineering Leader will also work directly with industry thought leaders to expand the Filters and Membranes business.
Essential Responsibilities: As the Commercial Engineering Leader, you will:


  • Provide technical & commercial support to direct and indirect sales organizations globally, develop winning technical solutions and proposals, focused on driving profitable growth while balancing risk across the entire engineered systems portfolio
  • Generate alternative solutions to customer issues and takes reasonable risks using advanced scientific concepts for product and process innovation
  • Proactively identify projects / solutions that are tied to program goals to deliver on the business’ key priorities
  • Communicate key information clearly to internal and external customers to influence technical decisions and strategy
  • Communicate technical information and accomplishments through internal and external publications, presentations, and patents
  • Create technical content for marketing collateral, case histories, product fact sheets, industry playbooks, and ecomagination certification
  • Update reference manuals or customer manuals as required by the global product manager
  • Execute the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned projects using sound scientific / engineering principals
  • Implement data-driven decisions from technical data
  • Manage projects, with limited direction from manager, to completion and shares technical knowledge with their group
  • Track projects or processes effectively and prioritizes based on business criticality
  • Be involved in both short and long term projects and maintain balance to deliver on business objectives
  • Qualifications/Requirements:
  • Bachelors’ Degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Environmental Engineering or Chemistry
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in product engineering or technical sales support

    ELIGIBILTIY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability and willingness to travel 45%, domestically and internationally, as required
  • Additional Eligibility Qualifications: GE will only employ those who are legally authorized to work in the United States for this opening. Any offer of employment is conditioned upon the successful completion of a background investigation and drug screen.
    Desired Characteristics:
  • Master’s or Doctorate Degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Environmental Engineering or Chemistry with a minimum of 3 years of experience in product engineering or technical sales support
  • Recognized as a technical expert in filtration and separations
  • Excellent analytical skills; ability to implement data-driven decisions from technical data
  • Experience in publishing industry papers and presenting them at trade shows and conferences
  • Technical Sales Experience
  • Black belt or Master Black belt certification or equivalent quality certification
  • Master’s Degree in Business Administration
  • Understand GE Water & Process Technologies portfolio and risk policies (GE employees only)
  • Ability to work with remote cross- functional and cross-cultural teams
  • Strong oral and written communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with individuals for whom English is not their primary language
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Ability to accelerate change, work in a rapidly changing environment and operate independently to deliver business results
  • Strong influencing and team building skills
