Role Summary/Purpose: Validated characterization of site-specific wind conditions is fundamental for a reliable assessment of wind turbine loading and power performance. Focus of this internship is to determine a suitable extrapolation method for site-specific wind turbulence to accommodate for lack of measurement data at high wind speeds.
Essential Responsibilities: Developing, testing, and validating the extrapolation method using existing high quality data for a number of sites. Quality criteria: possible to automate, as simple as possible, validated with measurement data for different sites and terrain conditions, and works for all sorts of data records (robust).
Qualifications/Requirements:
  • Registered student with approval to work in Germany
  • Available for full-time 4 to 6 months internship, either as part of Bachelor or Masters
  • Study curriculum that is relevant to the scope and objective of the assignment
  • Start date: flexible, in 2016
