Role Summary/Purpose: | In support of the ecomagination and green energy initiatives, GE Energy provides Plant Wide Control Solutions in many energy applications including Wind, Solar, Gasified Clean Coal (IGCC), Nuclear, Advanced Simple and Combined Cycle, Desalination, Hydro, and Pulverized Coal Power Plants. |
Essential Responsibilities: | - Provide technical & troubleshooting support to GE Energy field commissioners and installers. - Interact with field personnel to obtain critical data on support issues. - Interface with product development, sourcing, manufacturing, product line leadership and product engineering teams to expediently resolve technical issues - Own quality measurements, data gathering and analysis of Wind, Solar, and grid energy storage products and components. Report quality findings, trends, and recommendations - Author and distribute Field Change Notices, Product Service and Control Service Bulletins as the means to facilitate information on quality issues affecting the Wind and Solar products - Develop knowledge articles for the Knowledge Base support solutions tool - Team with product designers to define product support documentation and deliver content for publication - Provide training support for the Wind and Solar products |
Qualifications/Requirements: | - Adaptable to working within a global-based matrix organization - Adaptable to working with people from varying disciplines: Field, Manufacturing, Sourcing, Engineering, program managers, and various Quality organizations - 3+ years experience in a Customer Service/ Product Service Role or 3-5 years experience in electrical systems applications or field service troubleshooting - Strong customer focus, safety & quality mindset - Team player and ability to self-direct - Ability to work with minimal direction, self starter, resourceful - Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing (English) - Demonstrated ability to meet agreed upon goals and measurements - Must be able to handle multiple tasks, stay organized and prioritize effectively - BS Electrical Engineering degree or equivalent - Minimum of 3 years engineering experience - Green Belt Certification (GE Employees Only) - PC proficient, Windows and MS Office Suite of products - Working with electrical and electronic schematics - Travel will occasionally be necessary, estimated to be less than 5% |

Desired Characteristics: | - 3+ years field commissioning experience or product support (GE or non-GE Wind or Solar Products) - Power conversion experience with SCR, IGBT, IGCT (GE or non-GE) - Working knowledge with ControlST software tool suite, WorkstationST, trender - Knowledge of PC networking, IP addressing, network switches and routers - 3+ years drives and controls troubleshooting background (GE or non-GE) - Demonstrated success as a change agent in the introduction of new processes - Strong influencing, facilitation, leadership and interpersonal skills - Demonstrated design creativity and problem solving capabilities - Strong process discipline with sound analytical and statistical skills - Ability to work and communicate at all levels of the organization - Project Management skills |
