Role Summary/Purpose: | |
Essential Responsibilities: |
- Lead projects designing LED indoor fixture products and components.
- Evaluate and implement product designs from concept to finished product based on product specifications.
- Lead creation of product designs via 3D modelling in SolidWorks environment; creation of part drawings.
- Managing the production of prototypes of preliminary designs.
- Cooperate with internal manufacturing/suppliers to optimize component design for manufacturing.
- Analyze mechanical and optical design from all aspects to ensure performance, aesthetics and reliability requirements are met. Conduct tolerance analysis and define part specs. Cooperate with experts in tooling design if necessary.
- Work with the System manager to develop and execute test evaluation plans. Prepare and analyze data to prove product reliability and robustness. Establish, plan and conduct test plans of components, systems, processes or materials.
- Work with manufacturers to conduct first piece approval process, tooling qualifications.
- Identify, analyze and solve issues.
- Lead documentation efforts.

Qualifications/Requirements: |
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering required, Master’s in mechanical or optical science engineering preferred
- Very strong experience in mechanical product design, preferably in luminare technologies.
- Understanding of manufacturing processes, preferably sheet metal processing, Al extrusion, die-casting or deep knowledge in optical system design, especially in LED applications.
- Demonstrated ability in engineering analysis, testing, problem solving, and design execution
- Demonstrated ability to work with global, cross-functional teams and vendors
- Strong interpersonal and communication (verbal and written) skills
- Proven ability to lead an engineering team
