In a dynamic team environment, the Lead Engineer / Technologist will be responsible for leading concept development, detailed design engineering, and customer support for mechanical and/or fluid accessory systems integral to Steam Turbine & Generator plants for combined cycle, industrial, fossil, nuclear, or renewable applications.
Essential Responsibilities: In addition you will:

  • Lead role to develop system level architecture for steam turbine and generator accessory systems
  • Develop innovative engineering designs for steam turbine and generator accessory systems equipment for Requisition and/or New Product Introduction projects; such as lube & hydraulic oil packaged systems, main steam piping, steam valves, steam gland condenser, steam turbine enclosures & insulation, generator hydrogen control panel, seal oil system, generator lagging and stator water cooling system
  • Lead development of detailed system and component specifications, outline drawings, build to print drawings, and system schematics
  • Perform engineering calculations & analyses (sizing and selection of system components), to validate integrity of hardware and software designs
  • Drive Fulfillment / OTD goals
  • Develop / Lead Business Initiatives that support team goals
  • Review, evaluate, and approve Supplier analysis & design
  • Inspect equipment and perform design reviews at supplier site and Customer jobsites. Provide field support for responsible hardware and address field issues & RCAs, as required
  • Take lead role in Continuous Improvement / Quality engagement initiatives
  • Effectively interact with other GE engineering design teams, customers, architect engineers and suppliers as well as with internal GE functions; Sourcing, Drafting, Systems Engineering, Power Island Integration, and Project Management
  • Qualifications/Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university
  • Minimum of 5 years of engineering experience
  • Additional Eligibility Qualifications: GE will only employ those who are legally authorized to work in the United States for this opening. Any offer of employment is conditioned upon the successful completion of a background investigation and drug screen.
    Desired Characteristics:
  • Mechanical Engineering Degree from an accredited college or university
  • Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt Certified
  • Power plant or turbine accessory equipment design experience
  • Demonstrated ability to manage & lead simultaneous projects with minimal direction
  • Well-established computer, communication and organizational skills
