The Mechanical Project Engineer will provide project leadership and engineering support in the execution of new unit packages for the Distributed Power business. This includes ownership of project-specific bills of materials, drawings and related internal and external customer documents.
Essential Responsibilities: In addition you will:

  • Provide technical leadership and tools support to junior engineers
  • Development and modification of existing standard CADD drawings to reflect customer-specific project requirements
  • Serve as primary interface for engineering on technical issues
  • Qualifications/Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university or college
  • Additional Eligibility Qualifications: GE will only employ those who are legally authorized to work in the United States for this opening. Any offer of employment is conditioned upon the successful completion of a background investigation and drug screen.
    Desired Characteristics:
  • Mechanical engineering experience in the power industry
  • Previous experience designing or installing GE Energy turbine packages
  • General knowledge of Electrical and Controls aspects of gas turbines
  • Familiarity with GE AEP engineering tools and processes
  • Familiarity with the design and specification of complete power plant mechanical systems, including fuel, water treatment, inlet conditioning, controls, exhaust, emissions control, water discharge, fire suppression, as well as plant layouts, and familiarity with overall power plant electrical systems
  • Strong understanding of GE gas turbines and packages
  • GB certified (DMAIC or DFSS) for GE applicants
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated project management skills including coordinating activities across functions, demonstrated leadership skills
  • Focus on customer service and fulfillment
  • Highly organized
  • Self-starter with strong technical and leadership skills
  • Energetic, customer-focused engineer with excellent communication and project management skills looking to develop their technical leadership and project execution skills
