Role Summary/Purpose: | Provide technical leadership, mentoring and direction to a diverse controls systems applications development engineering team. The Technical Leader will ensure technical rigor and consistent adherence to best practices in control systems design, simulation and implementation within the Turbomachinery Controls, Electrical and Electronics (CEE) organization. |
Essential Responsibilities: | - Provide Controls domain expertise to the Oil and Gas Turbo machinery Controls engineering development team. Technically mentor / lead a team of engineers that are responsible for design and verification of new control system software applications for GE Oil and Gas products including gas turbines, steam turbine, and compressors. - Build processes to capture and reuse knowledge gained throughout the product and technology development processes. - Build component and module level libraries to encapsulate this knowledge in a way that is easily reusable - Develop component ownership and incorporate lessons learned from fulfillment, validation, manufacturing, and field experience into design practice improvements - Drive processes and practices to measure improvement in productivity, design quality and reliability . - Work directly with Project Engineering teams to ensure customer CTQ's are met. - Work with Project Managers to ensure adequate funding and timing are provided to execute on the planned projects. - Prepare invention disclosures to protect technology that gives the business a competitive advantage, as well as protecting the intellectual property rights of the company. |
Qualifications/Requirements: | - Bachelors of Engineering in Electrical/Electronics/Instrumentation - 10 years of progressive experience with control software and algorithm design in an industrial research, development or engineering context of power generation or Oil&Gas field. - Experience with design and application of power generation auxiliary systems. Hands on experience in combined cycle controls development. |

Desired Characteristics: | Master’s degree in Engineering. Solid track record of engineering accomplishment. Strong interpersonal and leadership skills. Strong Oral and written communication skills. Hands on experience on GE Mark VI or Mark Vie control system software, including Control System Toolbox, Cimplicity HMI, TCI, and the EGD communication protocol. Hands on experience with GE gas turbines, GE steam turbines, or combined-cycle power plant controls and auxiliary systems. Controls domain knowledge in Model based / model predictive control or other advance controls strategies. |
