The Wind Electrical System (WES) Generator Engineer will be an integral part of the wind product and design process. The Generator Engineer will be responsible for field issue resolution, manufacturing support as well as supporting successful NPI execution and fulfillment for permanent magnet synchronous generators and doubly-fed asynchronous generators used in GE wind turbines.
Essential Responsibilities: In addition you will:

  • Execute Engineering design changes on wind turbine generators for reliability or performance improvement / enhancement
  • Support the definition of wind generator characteristics across technical clarification, interface definition, prototyping, testing, and introduction into manufacturing up to maintenance
  • Define and control technical documentation for permanent magnet synchronous and doubly-fed asynchronous generators, including specifications, bills of material, drawings, spare parts, 3D-models, and schematics
  • Ensure accordance to international codes and standards like IEC, UL, CSA, ISO, CE, CCC, DIN etc.
  • Work with global and cross-functional teams to leverage ‘Best Practice’ for generator testing and validation procedures
  • Prepare design / analysis documentation, e.g. Design Practices, design record book articles and Work Desk Instructions (WDIs)
  • Support related functions like Sourcing, Requisition, Manufacturing, and Services etc.
  • Support site root cause analysis on technical issues
  • Work closely with the WES Technical Leaders and global team members to ensure high quality and on-time delivery for engineering assignments
  • Qualifications/Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited college or university
  • Minimum of 2 years of electrical engineering experience
  • Additional Eligibility Qualifications: GE will only employ those who are legally authorized to work in the United States for this opening. Any offer of employment is conditioned upon the successful completion of a background investigation and drug screen.

  • Master Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited college or university
  • Proven design knowledge on electrical rotating machines
  • Strong analytical approach to problem solving
  • Positive mindset with good verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work in a cross-functional and global environment
  • Self-motivated
  • Six Sigma GB or full time quality role experience
  • Proven wind turbine product knowledge
  • Wind engineering experience
  • Possess a deep foundation in electrical systems
  • Proven strong interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated ability to document, plan, and execute multiple NPI program deliverables in parallel
  • Ability and willingness to travel
