Role Summary/Purpose: The Nuclear Fuel Engineer will contribute to the team responsible for BWR fuel reload licensing and cycle management in GNF-A Fuels Engineering. This individual will provide innovative licensing and design solutions that ensure high quality deliverables in accordance with customer requirements, business procedures and regulatory agency guidelines.
Essential Responsibilities: In addition you will:

  • Execute the analysis, design or test to support operating reactor cores in reload licensing and cycle management
  • Prepare and present technical data to internal and external customers
  • Document and communicate results of technical data generated
  • Participate on teams assigned to address specific organizational initiatives
  • Share information and promote open dialogue; this includes working effectively in a matrix team environment
  • Prepare invention disclosures to protect the technology that provides a competitive advantage to the business
  • Coordinate technical activities for GNF
  • Partner with the Commercial Project Manager (CPM) and interface with customer technical personnel and GEH Nuclear Energy Services personnel
  • Qualifications/Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s Degree of Science in engineering, physics, or other science field from an accredited university or college
  • Minimum of 3 additional years of experience in an engineering position

    Eligibility Requirements:

  • Ability and willingness to travel to domestic and international plant sites
  • Additional Eligibility Qualifications: GE will only employ those who are legally authorized to work in the United States for this opening. Any offer of employment is conditioned upon the successful completion of a background investigation and drug screen.
    Desired Characteristics:
  • Six Sigma green belt certification or equivalent quality certification
  • Bachelor’s Degree of Science in Nuclear Engineering from an accredited college or university
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in the nuclear engineering industry
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in reload nuclear engineering processes
  • Excellent oral & written communication skills
  • Innovative - Comes up with a lot of new and unique ideas
  • Solves difficult problems with effective solutions
  • Pick up on technical things quickly; can learn new skills and knowledge
  • Seeks simple solutions to complex problems
  • Displays persistence and tenacity and is not deterred by obstacles
