Role Summary/Purpose: The Turbine Design Compliance team is seeking a Wind Turbine Design Certification Engineer to manage system-level design certifications with international regulatory agencies. They will interface with all aspects of the business & will be engaged in every level of operations from program initiation to product service & warranty.
Essential Responsibilities: There will be multiple opportunities to dive deep into technical discussions as well as strategic business level discussions related to certification strategy & the application of international standards.

In addition you will:

  • Lead international teams of 25-40 engineers from all Wind departments across multiple disciplines to develop design certification packages. Certification scope covers of all Wind Turbine Platforms and the major turbine sub-systems (controls, rotor, machinery, electrical, tower) as well as single approval and site specific design assessments
  • Engage with international regulatory agencies as the GE point-of-contact to communicate system designs, commercial priorities, and program schedules
  • Manage annual project funding, typically ranging from $500k to $1MM
  • Oversee testing of blades, gearboxes, and turbine performance
  • Demonstrate GE's compliance with international design codes to agency technical experts with the support of CoE engineers
  • Meet with customers to review field installations against certified designs, with the flexibility needed to drive short-cycle certifications to closure
  • Maintain regular communication with Engineering and Product Line leadership to review program schedules, funding, and commercial risks
  • Develop new tools / processes to streamline team activities
  • Mentor team members on turbine design, international standards, and program management tool s /skillsets.
  • Act as informal leader to co-ordinate the document creation and submission process
  • Qualifications/Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree of Science in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited college or university
  • Minimum of 1 year of regulatory or program management experience related to design engineering
  • Minimum of 8 additional years of experience in an engineering position

    Eligibility Requirements:

  • Ability and willingness to travel to site to support inspections
  • Additional Eligibility Qualifications: GE will only employ those who are legally authorized to work in the United States for this opening. Any offer of employment is conditioned upon the successful completion of a background investigation and drug screen.
