The Lead I&C Electronic Hardware Design Engineer will demonstrate leadership in communicating business goals, programs, and processes in the electronic hardware area of expertise. They will perform hardware design, hardware development, life cycle management, qualification, hardware verification & validation testing, acceptance testing, failure analysis, and requirements analysis and tracking of embedded hardware for nuclear instrumentation and controls equipment.
Essential Responsibilities: In addition you will:

  • Apply engineering principles and expertise while performing sustaining engineering on nuclear I&C equipment to solve problems
  • Generate, maintain, and test VHDL and Verilog code on PLD and FPGA applications
  • Redesign and update PCB designs to address obsolescence and plant issues
  • Develop requirements analysis, design specifications, traceability matrices, and test plans in concert with the business as necessary to assure that product specification requirements are being met
  • Develop Instrument chassis, flat panel displays, chassis schematics, chassis assembly drawings and parts lists, wire lists, and change documents
  • Work with technicians in developing prototypes, test fixtures, simulators, production test instructions, and troubleshooting of digital and analog circuit boards
  • Interface with all engineering disciplines to ensure product, quality, and schedule adherence.
  • Generate, review and verify electronic hardware design and quality engineering documentation using GEH corporate eMatrix / PLM documentation system
  • Provide technical mentoring for more junior hardware design engineers
  • Participate actively in design reviews
  • Qualifications/Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Electrical / Electronic Engineering from an accredited university or college
  • Minimum of 5 years of Engineering experience
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience with digital and analog electronic circuit design including printed circuit board design techniques for performance and manufacturability
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience programming complex PLDs and FPGAs with a hardware description language in a product development environment
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience using schematic capture, digital simulation, and analog simulation tools
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience with C and assembly language development tools
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience with lab tools and test equipment such as digital oscilloscopes, logic and network analyzers and embedded processor emulation

    Eligibility Requirement:

  • Ability and willingness to travel on an as-needed basis in support of troubleshooting and/or testing
  • Additional Eligibility Qualifications: GE will only employ those who are legally authorized to work in the United States for this opening. Any offer of employment is conditioned upon the successful completion of a background investigation and drug screen.

  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written) and writing ability for requirements specifications, tests, and licensing reports
