Role Summary/Purpose: The Senior Engineer / Technologist will be a Mechanical Engineer assigned to our Balance of Plant/ Combined Cycle and Turnkey team in Alpharetta, Georgia. They will be involved in leading the mechanical engineering effort on a variety of Distributed Power projects.
Essential Responsibilities: In addition you will:

  • Develop equipment specifications and calculations for Balance of Plant equipment for gas and steam turbine based (combined cycle) power plants
  • Perform detailed review and supervision of engineering services provided by others, including oversight of scope definition
  • Preform extensive interface and coordination with various architect engineering, engineering consultants, construction, equipment suppliers and sourcing
  • Lead resolution of technical issues. Identify and manage technical risks
  • Exercise independent judgment and decision making on projects
  • Coordinate Mechanical tasks with product group, BOP mechanical design, A / E subcontractor, applications and systems engineers and other disciplines / functions
  • Support proposals, construction, and commissioning
  • Support initiatives related to design practices, competitiveness, standardize equipment specifications and simplification
  • Qualifications/Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree of Science in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited college or university
  • Minimum 15 years of Power Plant BOP engineering experience including specifying and purchasing Steam Turbine, Condenser, Boiler Feed Water pumps, Cooling Towers, Fuel Gas Compressors, Lube oil systems, Fuel Oil systems
  • Minimum 10 years as Lead Mechanical engineer on combined cycle projects
  • Additional Eligibility Qualifications: GE will only employ those who are legally authorized to work in the United States for this opening. Any offer of employment is conditioned upon the successful completion of a background investigation and drug screen.

  • Ability to support multi-project and multi-task activities
  • Experience with Aero derivative Simple Cycle and Combined Cycle plant design and projects
  • Experience with Reciprocating engine power plants
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Ability to balance multiple projects and priorities
