Role Summary/Purpose: This role will be within the Technical Risk & Human Factors Engineering team in P&W. This shared services organization will drive the execution of core business processes across all P&W product lines and functions. This role will be responsible for leading the implementation and continued development of Engineering Lab & Test programs for GE Power & Water.
Essential Responsibilities: This role will provide technical support for the teams, drive cross-functional accountability to ensure tangible improvements are implemented, and will develop proposal for driving positive culture change in P&W lab and testing environments, with regard to risk management.

In addition, you will:

  • Develop and issue a policy that defines minimum expectations and operational rigor requirements around Testing and High Risk Operations; provide support and process expertise to Engineering Labs to implement this policy by establishing required design safety and risk programs
  • Provide leadership and conduct rigorous evaluations of all safety incidents in Engineering Labs and Test environments; implement containment, identify root cause(s) and develop corrective action strategies to mitigate risk
  • Identify critical focus areas, develop and champion programs to drive improvement
  • Lead a global P&W Engineering lab EHS network to share Best Practices and leverage lessons learned effectively
  • Champion simplification efforts across the organization
  • Leverage Product Safety, Human Factors, and Technical Enterprise Risk processes to identify, elevate and resolve potential risks
  • Provide swift and timely communications and recommendations on significant issues or developments, to senior leadership
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to a core team of engineers and EHS professionals at large engineering centers and test locations
  • Establish goals, measure performance, analyze trends, and communicate strategy and performance at all levels
  • Provide support during Product Safety Review Board, and Product Safety Council meetings
  • Qualifications/Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related technical area from an accredited college or university
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in design and/or analysis or complex systems and equipment
