Role Summary/Purpose: The Steam Turbine Civil &Lifting Lead Engineer will be part of the Design Project team. The teams responsibility for is for the design, producibility, performance, reliability, and cost aspects for steam turbine component hardware. The team designs the next generation of steam turbine technology and product platforms through requisition project work and new product development. The design team is a global engineering team comprised of individuals from the United States, Mexico and France.
Essential Responsibilities: In addition, you will:


  • Facilitate the design and execution of the steam turbine civil design on a variety of projects. This scope includes the definition and specification of power plant interfaces with the flange-to-flange steam turbine hardware
  • Develop world class design standards and practices for steam turbine civil design that improve performance and reduce product cost
  • Lead and apply lifting design practice to steam turbine designs
  • Drive integration with cross-functional team members across Engineering and Product Definition & Drafting (PD&D) to introduce and maintain design standards that impact civil design into the steam turbine designs
  • Lead producibility / Installation / maintenance reviews with partner team members, including Global Supply Chain, Power Plant Systems & Accessories , Engineering Procurement Contractors (EPC) and customers
  • Support the product lifecycle as needed through manufacturing, installation & operation
  • Qualifications/Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree, Civil Engineering or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited College or University
  • Minimum of 4 years Engineering experience
  • Additional Eligibility Qualifications: GE will only employ those who are legally authorized to work in the United States for this opening. Any offer of employment is conditioned upon the successful completion of a background investigation and drug screen.
    Desired Characteristics:
  • Prior experience in the installation or service of turbo machinery or power plant equipment
  • Demonstrated experience interacting directly with customers and engineering procurement contractors to achieve mutually beneficial solutions
  • Ability to lead cross-disciplinary teams to incorporate plant-level design considerations into the turbine mechanical design
  • Ability to collect and apply steam turbine mechanical constraints into the plant civil design
  • Results-oriented mindset and passion for on-time execution with high quality
  • Strong knowledge of international building codes & lifting / rigging standards
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, especially with respect to interacting and communicating with customers and EPCs
  • Demonstrated fundamental engineering knowledge & skill
  • Ability to navigate in a matrix organization under a dynamic work environment
  • Demonstrated knowledge and application of project management techniques
  • Six Sigma certified equivalent quality certification
