| Role Summary/Purpose: | Dynamic system models and the simulation of power generation assets are critical to system design, operability, operator training, and control software validation in the P&W business. As the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM), GE has an unmatched domain expertise that drives a clear understanding of the physics governing equipment operation, complemented by a wealth of fleet data to tune & calibrate the models. This internship position is with Modeling & Simulation team. |
| Essential Responsibilities: | Modeling and Simulation team primarily uses EASY 5 as a simulation engine for simulating complex process dynamics to assist control and operability design of power plants. During the course of this journey a set of highly complex models representing plant components are developed as library. All these legacy codes are developed using conventional procedure based language approach. With the current computational capabilities, multi-platform for development and deployment, a redesign of model library is an area to explore. The goals of this internship project are to: a) Re-access a group of model libraries & develop high fidelity mathematical model, if needed. b) Development of mathematical models using object oriented approach to enable multiple platform usability. (Leverage existing library) c) EASY5, MATLAB or any platform should not be dependent to library d) Verification and validation of each plant component models, and develop a strategy for model verification. |
| Qualifications/Requirements: | - Candidate pursuing Master's Degree in Engineering (Controls, Instrumentation, Electrical, Electronics, Mechanical or Chemical). - Self-starter with ability to work individually and in teams. - Demonstrated ability to meet goals and objectives. |
