Role Summary/Purpose: The Configuration Management Engineer, Steam Turbine / Generator Accessories will have the opportunity to be a key contributor in the execution and enhancement of Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) for Power Generation. In this role you will have the opportunity to contribute to the process, as well as the development and definition of improvements and upgrades of the program.
Essential Responsibilities: The Plant Configuration Control Board (CCB) leader who is responsible for the creation and change process of GE's Bill of Material (BOM) from the Marketing features, product structure, automation rules, and integration with manufacturing or the field.


In addition, you will:


  • Ensure BOM changes are complete and accurate with clear engineering substantiation for the change
  • Ensure that the Manufacturing, Services and field requirements are addressed as well as product cost impacts
  • Ensure that the Change are consistent with product strategy including New Product Introduction (NPI), DMP and product improvement introductions
  • Ensure the change addresses all interfacing components and systems
  • Support the development of common configuration processes across the Product Generation product lines, to drive productivity, and Design Automation implementation
  • Identify gaps in the current process configuration capabilities and apply inventive solutions to enhance process performance
  • Work with the engineering organizations to create and maintain design rules and transfer functions to automate drawing selection and support the automated requisition bill of material process for the steam turbine (ST) electrical hardware
  • Generate initial Customer Development Program (NPI), and Base Product/Standard requisition Bills of Material, maximizing utilization of standard designs and existing hardware for the ST electrical hardware
  • Evaluate, prepare and implement design and bill of material changes for ST electrical hardware and coordinate the introduction of the change with engineering, drafting, manufacturing, and marketing
  • Qualifications/Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an accredited College or University
  • Minimum of 1 year of design engineering experience or relevant engineering experience
  • Additional Eligibility Qualifications: GE will only employ those who are legally authorized to work in the United States for this opening. Any offer of employment is conditioned upon the successful completion of a background investigation and drug screen.
    Desired Characteristics:
  • Knowledge of Power Generation Equipment, associated auxiliaries systems, and associated hardware
  • Understanding of engineering / design processes, Energy Engineering tool suite and configuration control as it relates to Product Accessories Engineering
  • Experience working with Enovia PLM
  • Working experience of Accessory Equipment outline/ordering drawings and bills of material
  • Ability to communicate upward and drive highly visible initiatives within Engineering
  • Energetic, strong communicator, capable of driving consensus
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and energize others in a Team environment
  • Self-starter with an ability to execute with limited supervision
  • Attention to detail and the ability to balance multiple priorities
  • Experience resolving process issues across functional lines
  • Capability to make timely, sound technical decisions based upon appropriate data
  • Fluent with MS tools suite like Excel and Powerpoint
  • Strong Interpersonal, communication, and process skills
  • Green Belt or Black Belt Certified or equivalent quality certification
