Role Summary/Purpose: You will provide leadership on projects and activities required to support current product engineering functions and new product introductions. In this position, the person will utilize system integration, design, and problem solving skills to work independently to resolve more complex technical issues and serve as a point of contact in Engineering for technical product direction.
Essential Responsibilities: In addition, you will:

  • Provide engineering leadership between Engineering and other functions in the communication and resolution of complex technical questions and issues; this includes: Manufacturing Engineers, Quality Engineers, Production Supervisors and personnel, Production Test , Sourcing and external suppliers, & Service and Application Engineering, NPI Teams, Engineering and Materials Lab, Field Service
  • Solve technical issues of a highly complex nature that prevent engines from attaining their expected attributes by providing rapid response to manufacturing engineers and production leaders supporting all shifts
  • Provide technical input to new supplier development and component quality projects, managing validation tests for components as required
  • Prepare, lead and participate in root cause analysis, defining both short-term and long-term corrective actions and drive to resolution
  • Create and review engineering change requests for product improvements and drive needed design activities and release changes to completion
  • Provide expertise in technical design reviews for new product development projects and provide domain knowledge regarding current product issues and production capabilities to the project team
  • Perform extensive engineering studies and calculations within the scope of assigned work; oversee study progress and provide leadership and direct activities of other Engineering personnel
  • Assume leadership of cross functional teams as required
  • Qualifications/Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology from an accredited Technical College or University
  • Minimum of 5 years of mechanical engineering experience, with a minimum of 1 year of reciprocating engine experience or industrial engine engineering background, knowledge of manufacturing , quality and assembly processes and experience working with the associated functional organizations

    ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability and willingness to travel occasionally, domestic and international, as required

  • Demonstrated proficiency utilizing mechanical engineering skills to analyze technical requirements and applying appropriate skill set to design and develop complex components and assemblies and ensure these components are producing the desired engine attributes
  • Ability to perform appropriate engineering calculations to solve technical issues
  • Current product support and problem solving experience complex in nature including DMAIC principles
  • Communication and interpersonal skills required to lead effectively with engineering and inter-department teams
  • Experience with large castings, forgings and weldments
  • Demonstrated proficiency in written, oral, and presentation skills
  • Organizational skills required to effectively handle multiple tasks
  • Proficiency in managing technical and organizational assignments
  • Embrace continuous improvement and have a strong desire to learn
  • Detail orientated
