Role Summary/Purpose: The Greenville Turbine Test Laboratory is responsible for the execution of critical combustion and mechanical test programs with the objective of acquiring high quality design data that will facilitate the development of world-class products primarily for gas and wind turbine products for GE Energy Power and Water and Energy Services.
Essential Responsibilities: The 2nd Shift Test Engineer is responsible for interfacing with the Design Engineering teams in the planning, design, development, instrumentation, and execution of engineering development testing of energy products including gas and wind turbine components, generators, and accessory systems supporting the Component and Development Test Center of Excellence of GE Power Generation Products.


In addition, you will:


  • Be responsible for conducting test during 2nd shift hours of 4 pm and 2 am – Monday through Thursday
  • Be responsible for integrating engineering requirements with EED Design Engineering, Facilities and Instrumentation Engineering, and Data Systems Engineering in the design, development, and test execution to prove out component and system functionality and reliability
  • Provide technical assistance to Assembly and Instrumentation associates
  • Be responsible for full compliance with GE and regulatory EHS policies
  • Be responsible for operational compliance with ISO requirements
  • Maintain Test Record files in compliance with ISO requirements
  • Work with customers both internal and external to GE
  • Develop and implement process improvements
  • Qualifications/Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Physical Sciences from an accredited College or University
  • Minimum of 5 years industrial or engineering experience

    ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability and willingness to work a 2nd shift schedule from 4 pm until 2 am Monday through Thursday
  • Additional Eligibility Qualifications: GE will only employ those who are legally authorized to work in the United States for this opening. Any offer of employment is conditioned upon the successful completion of a background investigation and drug screen.
    Desired Characteristics:
  • Master's Degree in Engineering from an accredited College or University
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in the design, development, or testing of turbines, jet engines, or turbo machinery
  • Black Belt certification or equivalent quality certification
  • Experience in combustion design or installation
  • Knowledge of high pressure / high temperature fuel, inert gas, and air systems
  • Strong interpersonal skills; ability to work well with all levels within the organization
  • Boundaryless thinker with the ability to manage multiple priorities
