Role Summary/Purpose: The Senior Mechanical Engineer will be a leading individual contributor in a multi-faceted and challenging developmental and customer-focused environment to increase the competitiveness of the F & H class products. The Senior Mechanical Engineer has latitude for independent action, judgment, and decision-making.
Essential Responsibilities: In addition, you will:


  • Direct the development, testing, and analysis of advanced technology gas turbine combustion systems considering cost, operability, reliability and emissions
  • Invent solutions to complex mechanical design problems to enable advancements in gas turbine performance and reliability
  • Develop ideas using CAD and communication with 3D modelers
  • Substantiate design concepts with hand calculations and FEA
  • Document designs via drawing / model approval
  • Conduct laboratory and field testing of combustion systems to validate combustor performance
  • Interact with the global GE Combustion community to establish and communicate best practices and latest technical breakthroughs
  • Work with internal / external design, manufacturing, and sourcing teams to meet schedule and delivery high quality work
  • Effectively document and present results in formal/informal reviews and written reports
  • Protect the Intellectual Property rights of the Company
  • Qualifications/Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited College or University
  • Minimum of 8 years engineering experience in product development
  • Additional Eligibility Qualifications: GE will only employ those who are legally authorized to work in the United States for this opening. Any offer of employment is conditioned upon the successful completion of a background investigation and drug screen.
    Desired Characteristics:
  • Master's Degree in an engineering or science discipline from an accredited College or University
  • Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering with specialization in combustion from an accredited College or University
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Demonstrated strong technical skills
  • Strong computer skills using MS Office
  • Unigraphics (UG) CAD experience
  • Excellent understanding of combustion, emissions, and gas turbine design
