Role Summary/Purpose: The Lead Engineer – Turbine Mechanical Design primarily focus will be on turbine components mechanical design / analysis and manufacturing / assembly support as a component owner for our new HA Gas Turbine. Key components include blades/buckets, vanes/nozzles, shrouds, rotors and casings.
Essential Responsibilities: In addition, you will:


  • Serve as a component owner of assigned turbine hardware, including overall responsibility for all aspects of design team coordination ... mechanical design, model/drawing definition, analysis, design reviews, manufacturing / assembly support
  • Apply solid mechanics, heat transfer, fluid mechanics, aeromechanics, and mechanics of materials using applicable computer codes and design practices to meet program objectives
  • Lead a global design team to complete the design definition and support manufacture of assigned turbine hardware
  • Ensure delivery of high quality engineering definition and analysis/design reviews to support all program milestones
  • Effectively communicate status and issues to management
  • Coordinate interfaces with manufacturing, materials, and drafting organizations to issue product definition of turbine hardware
  • Interface effectively with external supplier base to provide timely support on manufacturing processes and issues
  • Develop / maintain relationships across the turbine product line teams, sharing methods and best practices
  • Coach and mentor design engineers within the global turbine team
  • Qualifications/Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited College or University
  • Minimum 5 years engineering experience

  • Additional Eligibility Qualifications: GE will only employ those who are legally authorized to work in the United States for this opening. Any offer of employment is conditioned upon the successful completion of a background investigation and drug screen.
    Desired Characteristics:
  • Ability to use finite element computer codes
  • Advanced Technical degree from an accredited College or University
  • Minimum of 2 years of gas turbine design / analysis experience
  • Experience with UG or similar 3D CAD Tools
  • Technical drawing and design interpretation background
  • Solid background in finite element analysis (ANSYS)
  • Primary experience in stress and solid mechanics for design & analysis
  • Experience with advanced manufacturing and investment casting / forging processes
  • Experience with GE Power & Water product line
  • Customer satisfaction mindset with strong quality orientation
  • Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work in a dynamic environment with individuals in global locations
  • Ability and willingness to challenge the status quo, without allegiance to past or current practices and technology, to deliver the best GE products
  • Edison graduate or equivalent advanced Course in Engineering graduate
  • Green Belt / Black Belt certified or equivalent quality certification
