Role Summary/Purpose: The Product Cost Leader will have the overall responsibility for delivering Engineering led product cost-out and incorporating Value Engineering principles within the organization. They will work closely with cross-functional teams to identify cost takeout opportunities via data analysis, multi-functional team workouts and application of Value Engineering techniques. They will oversee cost reduction programs to ensure schedules and targets are achieved.
Essential Responsibilities: In addition, you will:


  • Support product cost-out strategies that will significantly enhance effectiveness and savings, drive implementation of best practices
  • Analyze data and identify opportunities through the application of Value Engineering and other cost takeout techniques to reduce product cost
  • Lead multifunctional teams through "workouts" to identify opportunities
  • Manage product cost-out portfolio, reviews and project tracking
  • Project manage key, complex cost-out and second source programs
  • Conduct cost reduction analysis on major cost drivers, specific systems and components utilizing aPriori or similar tool
  • Apply Value Engineering and should-cost techniques on proposed design concepts early in the New Product Introduction (NPI) process
  • Provide training and support to personnel as required
  • Drive monthly financial auditing and savings reporting
  • Ensure design changes are validated, risks are quantified and cost impacts have been assessed prior to implementation.
  • Communicate progress, status and risks to leadership
  • Qualifications/Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or business from an accredited College or University
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in Engineering or operational environment
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience with product cost takeout or Value Engineering
  • Additional Eligibility Qualifications: GE will only employ those who are legally authorized to work in the United States for this opening. Any offer of employment is conditioned upon the successful completion of a background investigation and drug screen.
    Desired Characteristics:
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in product cost takeout and Value Engineering
  • Knowledge of mechanical/ electrical design, manufacturing / assembly processes, sourcing
  • Executive level presentation skills
  • Strong interpersonal facilitation and leadership skills
  • Ability to develop strategies and execute plans with a sense of urgency
  • Technical knowledge and experience in industrial engines and their sub-systems
  • Masters in Engineering or Business from an accredited college or university
  • Six Sigma Black Belt certified or equivalent quality certification
