Role Summary/Purpose: Our team supports the GE Power and Water Engineering Division and works across gas, steam, and wind turbines; power plants and other products.
Essential Responsibilities: In this role, you will:


  • Design and implements state of the art mechanical, electrical, & optical measurement sensors
  • Develop the method of signal delivery to the data acquisition systems
  • Prepare and leads design reviews, test readiness reviews, and participates in the engineering tollgate process
  • Lead and coordinates with design engineering, manufacturing, field services, and customers to ensure tests are planned and executed flawlessly
  • Design and operates auxiliaries to provide power, cooling, lubrication, structural, and safety measures for mechanical and electrical systems
  • Create and reviews drawings and specifications for the Energy product and measurement system
  • Develop test product installation and operational procedures across the product line
  • Procure all necessary equipment, parts, and material and manages the associated suppliers
  • Ensure that multiple schedules and budgets (in excess of $1MM) are met in support of engineering programs
  • Develop fabrication quality plans and integrates with manufacturing
  • Disposition all nonconforming equipment, parts, and material, during the manufacturing and commissioning phases
  • Lead cross functional teams of 10 to 60 engineers, scientists, and specialists
  • Hand on support in the preparation of test articles and in the execution of the test programs
  • Qualifications/Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Aerospace Engineering, or a related physical science from an accredited College or University
  • 5 years of experience in a related field in a test, design, manufacturing, or field engineering role

    ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Willingness and ability to travel globally for up to 1 month if required
  • Willingness and ability to work in and around large industrial gas turbines and other power generation equipment, to include working with flammable gases, and high voltages
  • Additional Eligibility Qualifications: GE will only employ those who are legally authorized to work in the United States for this opening. Any offer of employment is conditioned upon the successful completion of a background investigation and drug screen.
    Desired Characteristics:
  • Master’s Degree in Engineering from an accredited College or University
  • Ability to take theory to practice and be a creative problem solver
  • Proven project management skills with a technical writing and documentation mindset
  • Ability to lead others and positively motivate team members
  • Experience in power generating turbines or power plants, jet engines, or other turbo machinery
  • 5 or more years’ experience in mechanical / electrical measurement design
  • Working knowledge of engineering software and proficient in the use of PC-based computer software
  • Excellent engineering technical skills
  • Proficient in fluid dynamics, heat transfer, mechanics of materials, mechanical measurements, and electrical measurement theory
  • Black Belt / Green Belt certification or equivalent quality certification
