Role Summary/Purpose: | Gas Turbine Project Engineer provides technical project management, technical direction and coordination of engineering activities for all assigned Gas Turbine projects. The Project Engineer functions as the technical liaison with the customer and their Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) representatives to ensure that that the supplied design documentation and equipment fully complies with the contract requirements. |
Essential Responsibilities: | This position will require coordination with/across multiple customers, project management, engineering organizations, Center of Excellences (COEs), commercial operations, Engineering, Procurement, and Construction firms(EPCs), Business Associates (BAs), supply chain and installation/field personnel by: - Providing single point contact for all customer technical inquiries, questions and communications related to assigned equipment projects. - Driving lessons learned back into the design engineering organizations to avoid repeating issues. - Providing technical guidance to Project Management, & Applications Engineering. - Conducting Customer Kick-Off Meetings (CKOMs) and/or Design Liaison Meetings (DLMs) with customers and/or their design representatives (EPCs). - Reviewing contract documentation and communicating project requirements to all design functions, utilizing internal documentation systems. - Evaluating financial/schedule impact of customer requested scope changes via Cost & Cycle Estimates (CCE's). - Monitoring the progress of design activities and working to resolve technical issues. - Monitoring engineering schedules and taking preventative action to prevent schedule delays or late customer deliverables. - Providing technical support to engineering, manufacturing, sourcing, suppliers and installation personnel to ensure equipment meets all customer requirements and business objectives. - Presenting project review slides periodically to upper management, highlighting risks and action plans to remedy the risks. - Providing technical guidance to other Project Engineers within the Thermal organization. - Carrying out special assignments which apply to procedures, cost reductions, continuous improvements, new features, forms, preparation, etc. as assigned. - Leading efforts to create and implement improved business processes. |
Qualifications/Requirements: | - Bachelor"s degree in Engineering from an accredited university or college. - At least 5 additional years of Engineering or related experience. ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS: - Willingness and ability to travel globally 10% of the time |

Desired Characteristics: | - Minimum of 5 years of experience in Gas Turbine system operation, design or maintenance - Advanced Degree in Engineering from an accredited College or University - Knowledge of project management processes and skills - Understanding of Technical Regulations & Standards fundamentals - Ability to influence and gain commitment at all levels of the organization - Strong business acumen coupled with technical knowledge (field and factory) - Knowledgeable of power plants, controls and gas turbine support equipment - Familiarity with PLM - Proven ability to work in a matrix environment - Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills - Ability to handle multiple tasks effectively - Broad business perspective and strong results orientation |
