Role Summary/Purpose: The Senior Project Engineering (SPE) will support our Beaumont and Orange, TX sites. You will be responsible for maintaining the mechanical integrity programs for both sites as well as the PSM (Process Safety Management) requirements of the Beaumont, TX site. You must be able to design, justify and implement multiple capital projects for both sites.
Essential Responsibilities: The Senior Project Engineer will demonstrate accountability for functional, business, and broad company objectives. In this role you will integrate and develop processes that meet business needs across the organization, manage complex issues within functional area(s) of expertise, be involved in long-term planning, and contribute to the overall business strategy.


As the Senior Project Engineering (SPE), you will:


  • Work directly for the Texas Engineering Manager
  • Be able to conceive, design, justify, procure, manage installation, and close projects per the GE Water Capital Expenditure process
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance to both Leadership and Maintenance Leads at the Beaumont and Orange, TX sites
  • Provide primary engineering support to maintain the following programs as needed: PSM, RMP, and Mechanical integrity
  • Provide engineering expertise to any PHA’s conducted
  • Review quotes and proposals and provide engineering guidance prior to purchase order issuance
  • Ensure all local code and compliance criteria are met for each project
  • Be responsible for vendor selection and qualifications based on engineering criteria
  • Be primary contact for any 3rd party construction or engineering companies hired by GE
  • Act as Plant engineering reviewer for any NPI (New Product Introduction) or DMP (Decision Management Program) projects proposed at current facilities
  • Provide leadership for the Beaumont and Orange plant maintenance programs including preventive maintenance
  • Provide oversight for all projects in accordance with the CIP tool and P&E workflow approval process
  • Use computer skills
  • Qualifications/Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience managing capital projects in a chemical manufacturing facility

    ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Willingness and ability to travel 10% of the time
  • Additional Eligibility Qualifications: GE will only employ those who are legally authorized to work in the United States for this opening. Any offer of employment is conditioned upon the successful completion of a background investigation and drug screen.
    Desired Characteristics:
  • Six Sigma Green Belt certification, preferably Black Belt or equivalent quality certification
  • Knowledge of PSM and RMP standards
  • Performed engineering project management across multiple locations
  • Sound analytical and problem solving skills
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Proven ability to interact with customers successfully
  • PC proficiency
  • Working knowledge and ability to use the following tools: SPC, Process Mapping, SAP, Lean Manufacturing, ISO Standards, Root Cause / Corrective Action Analysis , Change Control, and MOC
