Role Summary/Purpose: The Senior Electrical Engineer - Grid will be responsible for the electrical design and integration of the Durathon Energy Storage System (DESS). The primary objective of the Senior Electrical Engineer - Grid is to evaluate the technical requirements of proposals, configure and size a solution, produce preliminary one-line and site outline drawing concepts, provide a technical summary and a list of exceptions / comments to the proposal.
Essential Responsibilities: As the Senior Electrical Engineer – Grid, you will:


  • Be the Engineering Technical Lead on Proposals (ITO) for GE Battery Storage Systems using Lithium Ion Battery Technology. GE Battery Storage equipment includes the AC sub system, DC sub system, and Controls
  • Work closely with the GE Sales and the GE Commercial team to complete Proposal in a timely and accurate manner
  • Be the Engineering Technical Lead on GE Battery Storage projects (OTR)
  • Develop specifications to order equipment (i.e. Transformers, Inverters, Batteries, Enclosures, Controls), during a 6-9month requisition (OTR) process
  • Develop a customized customer drawing package (i.e. site layout drawing, one-line diagram, cable summary and interconnect, network diagram)
  • Be part of a team consisting of GE Sourcing, GE Component Engineering, and GE Project Management
  • Interact directly with customers to answer questions and explain GEs Battery Storage offering
  • Work with a variety of Architect Engineering partners on turn key projects
  • Support the GE field installation team and/or Architect Engineering partner during the installation and commissioning phase
  • Be expected make some site visits to support complex installations, as well as occasional vendor qualification and inspections
  • Be the voice of the customer and provide feedback to the Product Leaders and to NPI Engineering
  • Be active in product development process
  • Support meetings to provide recommendations on product improvements and new product features
  • Drive productivity improvements into the ITO (Inquiry to Order) and OTR (Order to Remittance) process to reduce cycle time, improve quality, and reduce product cost
  • Qualifications/Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or related engineering degree
  • Minimum of 3 years of related experience in Energy Storage technologies and/or Power Plant Systems
  • Additional Eligibility Qualifications: GE will only employ those who are legally authorized to work in the United States for this opening. Any offer of employment is conditioned upon the successful completion of a background investigation and drug screen.
    Desired Characteristics:
  • Master’s Degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering
  • Experience in Battery Systems, Inverters, 3 phase power, and Controls
  • Experience in Electrical Grid applications (ST, ST, Wind, and/or Solar)
  • Familiarity with domestic and international codes and standards (i.e. NEMA / ANSI and IEC)
  • Strong organizational skills and a self-starter
  • Intellectual curiosity and technical aptitude to learn new technologies
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Green Belt certification or equivalent quality certification
