Role Summary/Purpose: The Lead Electrical Engineer will design electronic systems and modules for new analytical instrumentation products and will provide sustaining support for existing products
Essential Responsibilities: As the Lead Electrical Engineer, you will:


  • Identify problems and formulate solutions with limited direction from manager
  • Execute the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned projects using sound scientific / engineering principals
  • Manage small projects to completion and share technical knowledge with group with limited direction from manager
  • Be responsible for work that is less defined in scope and have the understanding and experience to execute business objectives
  • Generate alternative solutions to problems and take reasonable risks using advanced scientific concepts for product and process innovation
  • Communicate key information clearly to internal and external customers to influence technical decisions and strategy, and participate as a presenter or reviewer in technical and program reviews
  • Communicate effectively across the organization, interacting and collaborating with technical colleagues and cross-functional groups
  • Track projects or processes effectively and prioritize based on business criticality
  • Present ideas in both written and oral forms through design reviews and drawing sign-off with multifunctional global teams
  • Be responsible for preparation of design and fabrication drawings within established documentation and release practices
  • Design and fabricate test fixtures for prototype and pilot production environment
  • Write test plans / procedures, test designs, and document results
  • Define own detailed tasks within a general engineering assignment and aggressively drive them forward to meet tight schedules with high-quality
  • Qualifications/Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or relevant technical field
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in electronic hardware design
  • Additional Eligibility Qualifications: GE will only employ those who are legally authorized to work in the United States for this opening. Any offer of employment is conditioned upon the successful completion of a background investigation and drug screen.
    Desired Characteristics:
  • Demonstrated knowledge in embedded microprocessor electrical engineering field
  • Proficient with schematic capture CAD applications
  • Familiarity with PCB layout CAD applications
  • Ability to interpret technical material, define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw conclusions
  • Experience developing FPGA (Field Programmable Gate Array) designs using either VHDL or Verilog
  • Ability to deal with multiple variables that represent conflicting design requirements and specifications
  • Ability to handle multiple projects with conflicting priorities
  • Computer skills including MS Office
  • Familiarity with circuit simulation tools such as LTSPICE
  • Altium Designer schematic capture and PCB experience
  • DFT and DFM experience
  • Proficient in both analog and digital design
  • Ability to aid in developing product and electrical specifications
  • Experience designing to meet the needs of low to medium volume production environment
  • Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in electronic hardware design
  • Six Sigma training, Green Belt certified or equivalent quality training /certification
  • Team leadership / management experience
