Role Summary/Purpose: The Power Conversion Product Service Engineer will have overall solution responsibility to drive continuous improvement of Wind, Solar, and Battery Storage products through failure analysis of returned components, Power Answer Center case support, Customer Issue Resolution case management, Knowledge base content management, and Root Cause Analysis facilitation.
Essential Responsibilities: As the Power Conversion Product Service Engineer, you will:


  • Provide technical & troubleshooting support to GE Energy field commissioners and installers
  • Interact with field personnel to obtain critical data on support issues
  • Interface with product development, sourcing, manufacturing, product line leadership and product engineering teams to expediently resolve technical issues
  • Own quality measurements, data gathering and analysis of Wind, Solar, and grid energy storage products and components
  • Report quality findings, trends, and recommendations
  • Author and distribute Field Change Notices, Product Service and Control Service Bulletins as the means to facilitate information on quality issues affecting the Wind and Solar products
  • Develop knowledge articles for the Knowledge Base support solutions tool
  • Team with product designers to define product support documentation and deliver content for publication
  • Provide training support for the Wind and Solar products
  • Qualifications/Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, or Computer Science
  • Minimum of 3 years engineering experience
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a Customer Service / Product Service Role OR a minimum of 3 years of experience in electrical systems applications or field service troubleshooting

    ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability and willingness to travel 10% of the time
  • Additional Eligibility Qualifications: GE will only employ those who are legally authorized to work in the United States for this opening. Any offer of employment is conditioned upon the successful completion of a background investigation and drug screen.

  • Power conversion experience with SCR, IGBT, IGCT (GE or non-GE)
  • Working knowledge with ControlST software tool suite, WorkstationST, trender
  • Knowledge of PC networking, IP addressing, network switches and routers
  • Minimum of 3 years of drives and controls troubleshooting background (GE or non-GE)
  • Demonstrated success as a change agent in the introduction of new processes
  • Strong influencing, facilitation, leadership and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated design creativity and problem solving capabilities
  • Strong process discipline with sound analytical and statistical skills
  • Ability to work and communicate at all levels of the organization
  • Project Management skills
  • Ability to work with minimal direction, self-starter, resourceful
  • Fluent in the written and verbal English Language
  • Demonstrated ability to meet agreed upon goals and measurements
  • Able to handle multiple tasks, stay organized and prioritize effectively
  • Green Belt Certification or equivalent Quality certification
  • PC proficient, Windows and MS Office Suite of products
  • Knowledge of working with electrical and electronic schematics
