Aero-Thermal and Mechanical Systems (ATMS) is a key technology organization of Global Research Centre. ATMS, Bangalore is a team of 75 researchers focused on developing next generation mechanical systems and services. The team has 7 labs that are focused on fluid mechanics, aerodynamics, thermal sciences, combustion, tribology, system dynamics, mechanical reliability and diagnostics and prognostics technologies. ATMS-Bangalore team works on numerous technologies including steam turbine aerodynamics technology, wind turbine blade design, supersonic compressor, appliances compressor, multi-phase flow, to name a few. The combustion and thermal sciences team drives the diesel combustion and combustion kinetics work at ATMS-Bangalore and in addition works on developing novel thermal cycles for low cost desalination and arsenic removal from water. State of the art work in tribology involving nano-additives to oil to increase component life, component life testing, bearing design tools and mechanical reliability analysis are some of the novel technologies being worked on in tribology and system dynamics lab. The progonsotics teams in ATMS-Bangalore focus on failure prediction technologies with very multi-disciplinary work in the areas of novel sensor applications and physics-based diagnostics and prognostics. A significant component of ATMS-Bangalore team's research is focused on developing novel products and services for India including arsenic removal in water, services for Indian power plants and Jenbacher engines with scope to grow in new areas such as biomass power, solar thermal power, and low speed wind turbine. Role Summary/Purpose: | Independently execute large programs on dynamic analysis of wind turbines, reciprocating engines, gas turbine systems and components like rotors, drive train etc. through physics based computations; Perform detailed system level dynamic analysis of complex mechanical systems; Develop solutions to solve field issues involving drive train dynamics, rotor dynamics and recommend design solutions to mechanical systems to meet the dynamic performance requirements. |

Qualifications/Requirements: | Masters in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering with specialization in machine dynamics/rotor dynamics and minimum of 6 years of relevant experience or Ph.D in engineering, with specialization in machine dynamics/rotor dynamics/multi-body dynamics and minimum of 3 years of relevant experience; Industrial/Research experience in modeling dynamic behavior of gear box, drive trains, bearings, and rotor dynamics; Demonstrated ability to lead and deliver on large projects with multiple team members; Demonstrated ability to make sound technical decisions independently and pull together research plan; Passion for research and technology; Creative thinking for generating new ideas; Strong customer focus with excellent communication skills; |
