Role Summary/Purpose: The Junior Supplier Development Engineer will be a resource for the component teams to develop new supply sources to improve cost competitiveness and the conduit between GE and the supplier. Responsibilities will include cross-functional program management to qualify new components, supporting issues with current production, developing new suppliers to reduce cost, increase capacity, and auditing suppliers to ensure process conformance.
Essential Responsibilities: The role will require knowledge of sourcing, engineering, manufacturing and program management coupled with the personality traits of a highly motivated self-starter with creative problem solving abilities.
  • Interface with component team to prioritize supplier development needs by component to improve cost competitiveness or supply constraints
  • Search external market information and entrepreneurial companies to identify potential sources
  • Assess new supplier capabilities to meet GE product, cost, quality and fulfillment requirements
  • Ensure supplier compliance with GE, regulatory and reputation requirements
  • Evaluate supplier capabilities and develop capacity expansion plans
  • Based on screening, create viable source and prioritization based on component team input for SQE team to execute
  • Qualifications/Requirements:
    - Bachelor’s degree in a technical field (electrical, chemical, material engineer)

    - Experience in a Sourcing, Engineering or Manufacturing

    - Experience in developing and implementing vendor Qualification is advantage

    - Vast experience with cross-functional program Management

    - Ability to travel approximately 50%

  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Design for Manufacture and Assembly
  • Green Belt or Black Belt Six Sigma certified (GE employees only)
