Role Summary/Purpose: | The Materials Engineer will be responsible for providing technical direction and contributions to a range of activities related to major offshore Oil & Gas drilling and production projects. The individual will be responsible for interfacing directly with the local customer base and working with the regional centers of excellence to insure global compliance to the customer’s CTQs. |
Essential Responsibilities: | - Materials selection for Manifolds and Connection Systems. - Customer contact - technical clarifications & meetings on material selection & fabrication. - Work independently on projects in support of the ITO (Bid phase) and OTR (after order phase) processes. Participate in pre-production meetings, and Quality Surveillance activities. - Evaluate and promote the use of new materials and processes to enhance the company’s competitive position. - Review of contract requirements; engineering guidelines, design and fabrication specifications (material selection, welding, non destructive examination, surface protection, coating and cathodic protection requirements) - Review of suppliers’ manufacturing procedures (welding, non destructive examination, surface protection) - Perform other related duties as assigned or indicated by responsibilities. - Assigned tasks will be executed with limited supervision and some travel (domestic and international) will be required. |
Qualifications/Requirements: | - Bachelor of Science in Metallurgical Engineering or Materials Engineering with some experience in the Oil & Gas business, preferably upstream. - Experience in writing material specifications for compliance with industry standards covering surface and subsea production equipment for the oil and gas industry. - Knowledge of behavior of metallic materials to different thermal-chemical conditions. - Knowledge of metallic material testing standards. - Knowledge of coating systems and testing standards. - Ability to communicate well in a multi-lingual/multi-cultural team environment. |

Desired Characteristics: | - Fluent English is desired - Experience with an oil and gas equipment manufacturer or an oil and gas exploration and production company would be desirable. - Knowledge in procedures for qualifying weld specifications to ASME IX and knowledge in applying weld procedures to product fabrication is desirable. - Knowledge of NACE MR0175/ISO 15156, DNV and ISO standards as applicable to Oil & Gas also desirable. - Experience in selection of metallic materials for oil and gas drilling and production equipment is desirable. - Proficient knowledge of personal computers and computer software, such as MS Windows, MS Word, and MS Excel is preferred. |
