Role Summary/Purpose: | The Data Science & Analytics Technical Leader directs novel big data analytics activities to support Distributed Power Predictivity efforts and uses fielded engine & other data to extract knowledge about products and customers. Efforts will derive from a DP strategy co-developed with other business functions and a deep understanding of the gas engine space. The analytics team works closely with DP software organisations responsible for implementing analytics to MyPlant and Predix systems. |
Essential Responsibilities: | - Execute and maintain functional responsibility advanced analytics & big data,
- Develop & maintain an analytics business strategy in conjunction with other business functions and an understanding of the gas engine space,
- Interface with other GE analytic organizations, Global Research Center, GE Digital, outside suppliers, and others, to understand leading edge technology and how it might apply towards Distributed Power’s strategy,
- Develop, mentor, and manage a team of engineers and scientists across a multi-disciplinary space in distributed power,
- Manage administrative duties of team including reports, metrics, budget and adherence to compliance and safe work practices,
- Partner with Engineering, Digital, Global Research Center, and externally with universities and research institutes to support development of a technology pipeline to strengthen the Distributed Power product portfolio,
- Serve as technical expert in the GE community through demonstrated accomplishments in the field of analytics.

Qualifications/Requirements: | - Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Math or Science from an accredited university (or equivalent in knowledge/experience)
- Strong experience leading technology evaluation and development of advanced algorithms & big data,
- Solid understanding of statistics, machine learning, pattern recognition and related technologies,
- Proven project/program management skills,
- Global mindset with ability to effectively lead remote teams,
- Strong oral/written communication skills, and mature interpersonal/leadership skills,
- The position may require significant travel to global engineering centers, and customer visits.

Additional Eligibility Qualifications: | |
Desired Characteristics: | - Masters or equivalent in Engineering, Math or Science (or quivalent in knowledge/experience),
- Industrial controls system knowledge,
- Equipment operations, service or engineering experience,
- Experience using MATLAB, R, and other simulation/data analysis tools,
- Understanding of industrial Multiyear & Contractual Service Agreements,
- Proven track record of innovation in big data, analytics in power generation and other sectors in industry, finance & telecommunications,
- Strong coaching expertise and success in working across the business functions, other GE businesses, and the global teams,
- Solid business acumen and customer mindset,
- Six Sigma certification (internal candidates).
