Role Summary/Purpose: | Research Engineer in GE Global Research Center Shanghai, focusing on research and development of power converter technologies. |
Essential Responsibilities: | - Performs R&D work in power converter control with focus on renewable generation technologies. The applications include but not limited to renewable energy grid integration, and power converter etc. - Performs R&D in medium/high power converter for products and processes for various applications, including line motor control, wind/solar/battery system, electrical vehicle and FACTS etc. - Take responsibility for concept development, modeling, simulation, control /instrumentation schemes design, and associated prototyping effort - Work at GE Global Research-Shanghai and collaborate with a diverse team both at GE's other global research centers and business units to grow and lead new research projects |
Qualifications/Requirements: | Qualifications/Requirements - Doctorate in power electronics, motor control or related areas, or masterate in these area with at least 3-year industry experience - Knowledge of modeling, signal processing, control, modeling, and optimization are required, as well as simulation and coding skills using MATLAB/Saber or other tools - Extensive knowledge of power converter and its control, familiar with and have practical experience of renewable generation, familiar with different power electronics and power system simulation platform and proficient with at least one power electronics simulation tool - Self-motivated, have passion in research work, and capable of working independently - Innovative nature and willingness to pursue new technical areas - Good interpersonal and communication skills. Communicate effectively both in written and oral English in a global team Desired Skillsets - Knowledge of Wind, Solar, Battery systems and their interactions with power grid - Understanding and experience with power system is a strong plus - Demonstrated understanding and practical experience on industrial products and processes - Demonstrated ability to convert high-level customer needs into a technical development strategy |
