Role Summary/Purpose:	The Wind 3MW Platform Team is seeking a System Engineer with demonstrated wind turbine system expertise to provide leadership in the development and implementation of key NPI, NTI, RCA and DMP projects.
Essential Responsibilities:	The Wind 3MW Platform Team is seeking a System Engineer with demonstrated wind turbine system expertise to provide leadership in the development and implementation of key NPI, NTI, RCA and DMP projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for integrating the Wind Turbine system (main shaft, main bearing, gearbox, bedplate, generator frame, yaw bearing, yaw drive, couplings, brakes, nacelles, tower and other mechanical components) for all 3MW Platform Wind Turbine products. The individual will lead major new product technical requirements, root cause analyses and cost reduction projects for 3MW Wind Turbines. He / she will perform system tradeoffs and create design instructions for new programs that translate business requirements to actionable design requirements. The systems Engineer shall be the key interface to local German building codes and market requirements as well local supply chain for major turbine components. Lead major technical product introduction, cost reduction and field resolution programs for 3MW Platform Prior wind turbine structural, mechanical or rotating parts experience Responsible for major and complex assignments with long-term business implications. This role contributes to the overall wind technical business strategy. Establish design strategies, multi-generation system and technology plans in conjunction with Model and Sub-system Managers. Translate local German building codes into requirements. Understand the regional certification process and interface to DIBt and certification authorities. Support technical due diligence discussions and support growth in the German market. Establish “first principle” wind turbine system design methodologies to improve overall system optimization and physics based understanding. Provide key wind turbine system expertise through all phases of product development from requirements definition through design and development, validation and product life-cycle support. Effectively communicate and provide recommendations through the analysis, preparation and presentation of technical data to internal and external GE customers using reports, records, and letters. Contribute to new and revised design practices to insure organizational learning. Prepare invention disclosures to protect technology that gives the business a competitive advantage, as well as protecting the intellectual property rights of the company Provide mentorship inside and outside the system organization. Create and approve design memorandums from a product specification, which the design groups will use as the design basis Provide the technical input for quoting limits definition. Create customer facing documents Lead strategic initiatives (MGTP, tools, app space, etc.) Lead conceptual designs and trade-offs
Qualifications/Requirements:	Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering, Physics or Mathematics Proven experience in a wind turbine engineering capacity. Proven experience in drive train architecture and rotation parts. Demonstrated leadership in defining the state of the art, along with the ability to teach and set standard practices within this field Track record of solving tough technical problems. Has demonstrated ability to lead/guide major technology initiatives. Able to interface effectively with all levels of the organization and external customers, both in English and German Experience leading cross-functional teams and multi-disciplinary teams of all levels. Strong Team Builder. Knowledge and experience of manufacturing process and feedback into engineering requirements. Ability to work in a matrix team environment
