The Performance Engineering Manager will have overall responsibility for developing & validating new products & technologies while working closely with engine test lab group, design group, & cross-functional teams. They will develop / manage engineering personnel & best practices processes & tools to deliver innovative solutions on schedule. This position requires excellent leadership, strong engine technical background, desire to learn, continuous improvement mentality, & organizational skills.
Essential Responsibilities: In addition you will:

  • Develop, mentor, and manage performance and field test engineering personnel
  • Create and participate in generation of ideas for innovative engine products, systems and technologies and be a champion for generation of GE intellectual property
  • Lead and/or assist with planning of projects and manage their execution to meet team’s commitments. Includes managing remote GE personnel, contractors and consultants.
  • Lead, mentor and/or assist with analysis and resolution of technical challenges encountered by teams.
  • Keep abreast of ‘industry best practices’ regarding engine system technologies, applicable processes, tools, and standards.
  • Manage administrative duties of team including reports, metrics, budget and adherence to compliance and safe work practices.
  • Travel occasionally (domestic and international)
  • Qualifications/Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or automotive related Engineering from an accredited college or university
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in engine new product development, test, and validation
  • Additional Eligibility Qualifications: GE will only employ those who are legally authorized to work in the United States for this opening. Any offer of employment is conditioned upon the successful completion of a background investigation and drug screen.
    Desired Characteristics:
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, develop, and supervise engineers
  • Technically proficient in reciprocating engine systems and technologies
  • Proficient in engine new product development including specification development, project planning & tracking, and delivering results on schedule
  • Working knowledge in test method creation, data analysis techniques/tools, and related engine test calculations
  • Proficient in leading and mentoring others in diagnosing and resolving problems related to engine performance and systems
  • Proficient in developing strategies and executing them
  • Black Belt and/or Lean concept practitioner and understanding
  • Self-starter, accountable, results oriented, and strong interpersonal & facilitation skills
  • Outward looking, clear communicator and open to new concepts and ideas
  • Master’s Degree in engineering from an accredited college or university
