The Applications R&D Lead Engineer / Technologist will work on developing and executing the technology roadmap aligned with emerging application areas such as enhanced oil recovery, unconventional fuels, mining, and industrial wastewater. They will execute technology product and process programs by partnering with the Advanced Solutions business team, GRC, the Product Technology teams, and the ES Engineering team.
Essential Responsibilities: In addition you will:

  • Leverage both GE W&PT chemical & equipment offerings and external technologies to develop new system solutions addressing growth areas identified in new application areas
  • Partner with Product Technology teams to develop new products that align with the application development priorities
  • Partner with the ES Engineering team to provide process and application development expertise required to establish capability, evaluate cost and profitability, and provide data necessary to enable design of new solutions. Also support piloting for concept validation and scale-up
  • Coordinate activities with the GRC and existing process teams in India, China, and Singapore
  • Interface with customers to understand and frame key application requirements, and also capture key feedback by participating in customer trials and pilots
  • Partner with Intellectual Property engineers to develop IP strategy and competitive landscapes
  • Qualifications/Requirements:
  • Master’s Degree in Chemical Engineering from an accredited college or university
  • Minimum of 5 years of Industrial experience in the area of product / process development and optimization for water treatment

    Eligibility Requirement:

  • Ability and willingness to travel 10 - 15% as required
  • Additional Eligibility Qualifications: GE will only employ those who are legally authorized to work in the United States for this opening. Any offer of employment is conditioned upon the successful completion of a background investigation and drug screen.
    Desired Characteristics:
  • Doctorate in Chemical Engineering from an accredited college or university
  • Knowledge of unit operations used in water and wastewater treatment
  • Motivated self-starter with the personal initiative who can shape and execute a growth platform
  • Ability to work with interdisciplinary teams including personnel from Technology / Engineering, Sales, and Marketing
  • Ability to plan and perform work alone and as a team member
  • Provide timely communication on significant issues or developments
  • Strong statistical data analysis skills, including Design of Experiments
  • Strong command of the English language (oral and written); excellent presentation & project management skills
  • Experience in water treatment for oil & gas, mining, and other industrial applications
  • Ability to independently formulate, execute and monitor major technical programs
  • Strong demonstrated team-based skills
  • Strong influencing skills
  • Ability to operate in a matrix environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills and analytical skills
