The Lead Controls Engineer will have the responsibility for designing comprehensive Controls applications for gas turbine power generation systems, as well as other applications of these engines. This individual will be working with the Controls Operations Leads and other engineering disciplines, to develop controls systems and narratives for global customers. Also, the Lead Controls Engineer will help to support I&C and other field and test line activities.
Essential Responsibilities: In addition you will:

  • Own, develop, update and improve standard processes and procedures
  • Develop new Controls application descriptions, specifications and narratives
  • Work with cross functional engineering teams to overcome technical challenges
  • Apply engineering principles for the purpose of design, application, support and implementation of controls for GE Gas Turbine systems
  • Provide technical support to Installation & Commissioning technicians for the purpose of preventing or troubleshooting issues during startup of gas turbines
  • Support customer meetings including Customer Kickoff Meetings at the customer’s location with a solid technical understanding of the product
  • Prepare and present technical data to internal and external customers
  • Prepare and present Design Reviews to Controls Chief
  • Design and execute test protocols for Control Systems under development
  • Document and communicate results of technical data generated
  • Participate on teams assigned to address specific organizational initiatives
  • Identify new ideas and prepare invention disclosures to protect the technology that provides a competitive advantage to the business
  • Qualifications/Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s Degree of Science from an accredited college or university in Engineering, Physics, Mathematics or Computer Science
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in an engineering design and development role involving industrial control systems

    Eligibility Requirement:

  • This position requires working with, or having access to, export controlled material. Candidate must be able to meet all legal requirements for such access
  • Additional Eligibility Qualifications: GE will only employ those who are legally authorized to work in the United States for this opening. Any offer of employment is conditioned upon the successful completion of a background investigation and drug screen.
    Desired Characteristics:
  • Familiarity with industrial HMI software packages and control systems
  • Experience working with a global team
  • Master’s Degree of Science in Engineering from an accredited college or university
  • Experience with Woodward controls such as Micronet, Netcom and GAP software or GE controls such as Mark 6e Rx3i / Rx7i, 90-70 / 90-30 and programming software such as Proficy Machine Edition
  • Experience with power generation and gas turbines
  • Strong technical aptitude, including applicable engineering tools and systems
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
