Role Summary/Purpose: The Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for the design, specification and selection of industrial water treatment equipment and associated components, including pumps, heat exchangers, mixers, pressure vessels, valves and piping systems.
Essential Responsibilities: In addition, you will:

  • Generate project documentation including equipment arrangement drawings, skid and platform layouts, and Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID)
  • Research and analyze data such as customer design proposals, specifications, and manuals to determine feasibility of design or application
  • Design products or systems that include instruments, controls, engines, and/or machines
  • Direct and coordinate fabrication and installation activities to ensure products and systems conform to engineering design and customer specifications
  • Coordinate operations, maintenance, and repair activities to obtain optimum utilization of machines and equipment
  • Design products and systems to interface machines, hardware, and software
  • Evaluate field installations and recommend design modifications to eliminate machine or system malfunctions
  • Qualifications/Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering or other Engineering Technical discipline
  • Minimum of 3 years of related industry experience

  • Ability and willingness to travel and work in an industrial environment
  • Additional Eligibility Qualifications: GE will only employ those who are legally authorized to work in the United States for this opening. Any offer of employment is conditioned upon the successful completion of a background investigation and drug screen.

  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and contract documents
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community
  • Ability to document technical information
  • Elective college courses in thermodynamics, heat transfer, drafting, CAD or manufacturing disciplines
  • Strong problem solving skills
  • Detail-oriented
  • Ability to write specifications, procedures, and manuals that conform to prescribed style and format
  • Ability to effectively present information to project and functional management and to customers, subcontractors, and suppliers
  • Ability to synthesize information from different engineering disciplines
  • Strong organizational, communication and PC skills
