Role Summary/Purpose: This is an exciting opportunity to be at the forefront of Growth, Innovation, and Product Competitiveness for GE Power & Water. The Engineer / Technologist will be a primary contributor for accessory systems design for strategic, market-focused, heavy-duty gas turbine New Product Introduction development programs, and customer fulfillment projects. This individual will have the opportunity to contribute to the development and definition of new gas turbine power plant products.
Essential Responsibilities: Opportunity areas for innovative designs are across all areas and include Fuel Systems, Lubrication Systems, Circulating Water Systems, Gas Turbine Auxiliary Systems, Packaging, Human Factor, and Maintainability improvements, as well as Gas Turbine Inlet and Exhaust Systems.

In addition you will:

  • Lead and execute engineering design and development consisting of a variety of engineering calculations and analyses, rigorous documentation of results, and implementation of design decisions into the product
  • Perform engineering which results in the highest quality product for GE customers, for assigned systems, sub-systems, and components, ensuring that critical requirements such as product cost, product technical performance, and project schedule are satisfied
  • Develop and execute program milestone schedules and engineering resource plans to satisfy customer requirements for all assigned projects
  • Develop and bring fourth innovative ideas for future technologies, working with others in the team to bring Patent and IP protection to strengthen our competitiveness through technology
  • Ensure accurate and timely definition and preparation of system functional and operational requirements, engineering drawings, bills of material, and functional specifications
  • Interface and interact daily with drafting, suppliers, and adjacent engineering teams and functions in the execution of assigned projects
  • Engage and contribute to ongoing continuous product and process quality improvement initiatives, including improving the maintainability, performance, compliance safety, cost, and reliability of designs through design practices, initiatives, and direct material productivity
  • Be 100% accountable for quality and on time delivery of product / drawings, reports, and specifications
  • Provide engineering support to Manufacturing, Sourcing, Customer Service, Customer Engineering and other teams as required
  • Qualifications/Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s Degree of Science in Engineering from an accredited college or university
  • Minimum of 2 years of Engineering Experience
  • Additional Eligibility Qualifications: GE will only employ those who are legally authorized to work in the United States for this opening. Any offer of employment is conditioned upon the successful completion of a background investigation and drug screen.
    Desired Characteristics:
  • Master's Degree or PhD in Engineering from an accredited college or university
  • Ability to develop, document, and execute engineering assignments with limited supervision
  • Engineering Design and Validation Experience in Thermal Power Plant Equipment, such as gas turbine accessories or similar
  • Experience working with a globally based engineering team
  • Experience working in a cross functional organization, i.e. - controls, combustion, performance
  • Ability to rapidly change directions for multiple concurrent projects based on emergent business priorities
  • Effective interpersonal and influencing skills
  • Effective Communication skills, oral and written
  • Demonstrated technical skills
