Role Summary/Purpose: The Lead Engineer / Technologist will be a laboratory scientist position where you will be performing chemical bench work at GE as well as customer sites as the principal duties of the job.
Essential Responsibilities: In addition, you will:

  • Research, develop and commercialize innovative treatment programs for hydrocarbon processing in Chemical, Refinery and Oil Production applications, to include Antifoulants, Inhibitors, Retarders, Fuel Additives, and Corrosion Inhibition
  • Have capability to develop and apply methods and simulations on lab scale that correlate with full-scale application
  • Assess and validate market needs through direct interactions with external and internal customers including Product Applications, Product Management and Sales teams
  • Translate customer requirements and needs into unique technology solutions
  • Contribute to idea generation, conduct experiments, and review results
  • Lead technical development effort including planning and execution of experimental approach, analyzing data, monitoring and communicating project status, and aligning resources to achieve goals and hit project milestones
  • Provide technical product support, customer service and non-routine problem solving for above industrial applications
  • Learn and apply Lean Six Sigma processes and tools for solving problems and to develop high quality, innovative technology solutions that meet customer requirements and needs; effectively communicate ideas in both a research and customer environment
  • Qualifications/Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Organic / Polymer Chemistry, Physical Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science & Engineering, or other relevant Chemistry or Engineering discipline
  • Minimum of 5 Years of experience in the area of Petrochemicals, Oil Refining, Fuels, and / or Oil & Gas Production including Antifoulants, Fuels, Phase Separation, and / or Corrosion inhibition
  • Additional Eligibility Qualifications: GE will only employ those who are legally authorized to work in the United States for this opening. Any offer of employment is conditioned upon the successful completion of a background investigation and drug screen.
    Desired Characteristics:
  • Expertise in hydrocarbon stabilization and free radical chemistry
  • Possess strong oral and written communication skills and ability to effectively communicate ideas in both a research and customer environment
  • Master's Degree or PhD in Organic / Polymer Chemistry, Physical Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science & Engineering, or other relevant Chemistry or Engineering discipline
  • Global exposure
  • Expertise in free-radical, interfacial, corrosion, or fuels chemistry
  • Knowledge of combinatorial research methods
  • Strong interpersonal skills with ability to multi-task and handle diverse responsibilities and work independently in a fast paced environment
  • Excellent conceptual problem solving skills with ability to consider overall problem, identify opportunities and implement major changes
