Role Summary/Purpose: The Performance Solutions Engineer will work with Commercial Teams, Customers and Design COE's to provide performance estimates for modifications and upgrades of gas turbines and combined cycle systems. They will have functional responsibility for assigned engineering work with latitude for independent action as a function of experience.
Essential Responsibilities: In addition you will:

  • Prepare performance estimates, guarantees, and fleet support studies using Gas Turbine and Combined Cycle thermal models, field data, and unit configuration information. These studies often involve working in a cross functional team environment
  • Conduct performance evaluations for both Gas Turbine and Combined Cycle plants
  • Use of System Level performance models to generate performance and/or emissions information and/or guarantees for upgrade proposals
  • Perform thorough review of all unit performance design and loading history to ensure proposed upgrade is compatible with the unit
  • Coordinate with customers, Regional personnel, Headquarters Sales, Product Service and Engineering to ensure proposed solutions are compatible with the unit, the customer needs, GE design standards and establish Division quoting limits
  • Perform system level / fleet wide performance activities in both Gas Turbine and Whole Plant
  • Execute the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product/program requirements
  • Provide timely communications on significant issues or developments
  • Promote and contribute to business programs (cost reduction, continuous improvement, workout, business teams, etc.)
  • Qualifications/Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in engineering from an accredited college or university

    Eligibility Requirements :

  • Ability and willingness to occasionally travel to customer locations in support of commercial teams or resolution of field issues
  • Additional Eligibility Qualifications: GE will only employ those who are legally authorized to work in the United States for this opening. Any offer of employment is conditioned upon the successful completion of a background investigation and drug screen.

  • Experience that would demonstrate technical knowledge and understanding of Gas Turbine, Combined Cycle and Steam Turbine Thermodynamics
  • Experience in a cross functional environment
  • Experience working with customers.
  • Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited college or university
  • Six Sigma Green Belt certification or equivalent quality certification
  • Strong technical aptitude, including applicable engineering tools and systems
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Experience working with field data and information
  • Understands business objectives and drives specific tasks required to meet the objectives
  • Understands products, capabilities and limitations in sufficient detail to be able to structure solutions that meet customer needs
  • Learns and understands the business vision and openly and consistently follows it
  • Provides input to all members of the team
  • Displays good interpersonal skills - is accessible and approachable
  • Anticipates customer needs and ensures that they are met
  • Measures processes and performance through the customer's eyes
