Role Summary/Purpose: The EHS Manager – Renewables South US Region will be responsible for providing leadership and direction to the business in Projects (OTR) and Services on all EHS issues. Develop EHS programs and drive implementation of EHS plans in accordance with all legal requirements and standards. They will demonstrate leadership in communicating business goals, programs, and processes for an area or business segment.
Essential Responsibilities: In addition you will:

  • Utilize experience or expertise to solve problems, develop and execute objectives for self and others, and have the ability to effect short-term and some long-term business goals
  • Facilitate and drive EHS excellence
  • Coach and mentor field based EHS resources. Develop internal talent pool
  • Sponsor and lead EHS initiatives linked to business strategy. Drive changes aligning with the company's long-term strategic business plan
  • Synergize efforts with operations leaders, affiliates and contractors to drive consistency and increase overall support function efficiency
  • Lead and cultivate an exceptional EHS culture within the business while advocating to customers, industry groups, trade associations and regulatory agencies
  • Provide periodic reviews of site medical and security programs
  • Support sites to achieve compliance with GE standards and seek continuous improvement and best practices
  • Work cooperatively with EHS HQ on various projects and initiatives
  • Identify and lead cross-functional teams, as needed
  • Work with operations management to ensure effective implementation of EHS processes and systems, using GE EHS Plans, management framework and scorecard systems
  • Provide EHS support for all installations – planning, construction, commissioning, service and maintenance of Power and Water sites
  • Conduct EHS Audits of Projects & Services installations
  • Develop, conduct and coordinate required EHS training
  • Conduct Post Incident Investigations, perform Root Cause Analyses and support the creation of proactive, value-added solutions
  • Qualifications/Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university or college in Engineering or related EHS field
  • 5 years minimum EHS experience

    Eligibility Requirements:

  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 30%
  • Additional Eligibility Qualifications: GE will only employ those who are legally authorized to work in the United States for this opening. Any offer of employment is conditioned upon the successful completion of a background investigation and drug screen.

  • Experience driving OSHA compliance programs
  • Knowledge of Construction and General Industry safety legislation
  • Working knowledge of Power Plant Systems (preferably Wind / Solar)

  • Excellent computer skills for use of digital tools
