Role Summary/Purpose: The Designer,Combustion Module Product Definition Engineering will support and coordinate with interfacing organizations including: global and domestic product definition teams (PDE), Component Development and Test (CD&T), design engineering, manufacturing, Advanced Technology Operation (ATO), and systems engineering.
Essential Responsibilities: In addition, you will:


  • Provide CAD and CAE support to teams of design and manufacturing engineers of industrial gas turbine components
  • Create and manipulate 3D CAD models during all phases of the design process
  • Promote advancement of PDE productivity and increased customer value through: Creation of fully parametric models Utilization of automated model and drawing creation/checking tools Generation of FEM and CFD models for design space solutions / DOE's Tagging and meshing of analytical models
  • Create and change manufacturing drawings and bills of materials, and utilize established ERP CAD / drawing revision and issue processes
  • Use business tools for monitoring assignments, receiving engineering instructions, and implementing design changes
  • Adhere to GE product definition processes and procedures with regard to model, drawing and BOM creation, checking, and release
  • Communicate job assignment status to design teams and manager
  • Participate in advancing product definition initiatives which include: drawing automation, checking automation, reusable parametric models, PMI model based product definition
  • Qualifications/Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering Technology, Engineering or Computer Science from an accredited College or University
  • Minimum of 1 year relevant work experience or co-op designing with 3D CAD
  • Additional Eligibility Qualifications: GE will only employ those who are legally authorized to work in the United States for this opening. Any offer of employment is conditioned upon the successful completion of a background investigation and drug screen.

  • Demonstrated example of working in a team environment with quantifiable impact to team success
  • Demonstrated capability to utilize enterprise resource planning software in a product definition role or design engineering role
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain multiple project focus, drive projects to completion, and report milestone status to leadership
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Familiarity with Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T)
  • Gas Turbine product definition experience in turbine hot gas path, compressor, rotor, static structures, or combustion component hardware, or similar capital component design experience
  • Familiarity with investment casting and gas turbine or other capital component manufacturing processes
  • Demonstrated ability to drive projects to completion
  • Enovia PLM ERP software experience in a product definition role or design engineering role
  • Past experience interfacing effectively with all levels of a PDE or DE organization and external customers (Design Engineering, Sourcing, Manufacturing, Quality, and Compliance)
