Role Summary/Purpose: The Engineer / Technologist will be skilled in engine design and mechanical development. You will participate in development activities of engine components and systems for new product introductions and current product support. In this position, you will utilize your engineering problem solving and 3D design skills.
Essential Responsibilities: In addition, you will:

  • Design and develop new engine components and systems and solve design-related problems
  • Participate in cross functional development teams working with more senior engineers
  • Develop component and system technical requirements while working closely with technical and cross-functional personnel
  • Perform engineering studies and calculations within the scope of assigned work
  • Participate in technical design reviews of work products
  • Procure prototype hardware for design validation, product release, and trouble-shooting production and field service type problems
  • Complete required business system transactions in PLM and Oracle for ECO releases
  • Provide technical support to other functional areas as required
  • Support the creation and continuous development of design practices
  • Qualifications/Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or Mechanical Design Technology from an accredited college or university
  • Minimum of 6 months of mechanical engineering experience
  • Additional Eligibility Qualifications: GE will only employ those who are legally authorized to work in the United States for this opening. Any offer of employment is conditioned upon the successful completion of a background investigation and drug screen.
    Desired Characteristics:
  • Demonstrated proficiency utilizing mechanical engineering skills to analyze technical requirements and applying appropriate skill set to design and develop components and systems
  • Experience creating 3D designs in CAD, including 2D drawing creation and the application and interpretation of GD&T to define technical requirements, manufacturing and inspection of components
  • Demonstrated understanding of complex mechanical systems, potential failure modes, and the means to eliminate using classical and advanced analysis (ANSYS)
  • Oracle ERP business system and Windchill, Enovia or other PLM experience
  • Communication and interpersonal skills required to function effectively with global engineering and inter-department global teams
  • Demonstrated proficiency in written, oral, and presentation skills
  • Organizational skills required to effectively handle multiple tasks
  • Proficiency in managing technical and organizational assignments
  • Embrace continuous improvement and have a strong desire to learn
  • Detail orientated
