Role Summary/Purpose: This is an exciting opportunity to be at the forefront of Growth, Innovation, and Product Competitiveness for GE Power & Water. The New Product Accessories Fluid Systems Engineer will be a primary contributor for accessory systems design for strategic, market-focused, heavy-duty gas turbine NPI development programs, and customer fulfillment projects.
Essential Responsibilities: The New Product Accessories Fluid Systems Engineer will have the opportunity to directly contribute to the development and definition of new gas turbine power plant products. Opportunities exist to make innovative improvements in Performance, Reliability, Cost, Packaging, Human Factors, and Maintainability across various Gas Turbine Auxiliary Oil, Water, Air, Fire Protection, and Electro-mechanical Systems through new technology infusion, inspired equipment packaging, and vigorous validation.


In addition you will:


  • Execute engineering design and development consisting of a variety of engineering calculations and analyses, rigorous documentation of results, and implementation of design decisions into the product
  • Perform engineering which results in the highest quality product for GE customers, for assigned systems, sub-systems, and components, ensuring that critical requirements such as; product cost, product technical performance, and project schedule are satisfied
  • Develop and execute program milestone schedules and engineering resource plans to satisfy customer requirements for all assigned projects
  • Develop and bring fourth innovative ideas for future technologies, working with others in the team to bring Patent and IP protection to strengthen our competitiveness through technology
  • Ensure accurate and timely definition and preparation of system functional and operational requirements, engineering drawings, bills of material, and functional specifications
  • Daily Interface and interaction with drafting, suppliers, and adjacent engineering teams and functions in the execution of assigned projects
  • Engage and contribute to ongoing continuous product and process quality improvement initiatives, including; improving the maintainability, performance, compliance safety, cost, and reliability of designs through design practices, initiatives, and direct material productivity
  • Be 100% accountable for quality and on time delivery of product / drawings, reports, and specifications
  • Provide engineering support to Manufacturing, Sourcing, Customer Service, Customer Engineering, and other teams, as required
  • Qualifications/Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree of Science in Engineering, Mechanical, Chemical, or Aeronautical from an accredited college or university
  • Additional Eligibility Qualifications: GE will only employ those who are legally authorized to work in the United States for this opening. Any offer of employment is conditioned upon the successful completion of a background investigation and drug screen.
    Desired Characteristics:
  • Master's Degree or Ph.D. in Engineering, Mechanical, Chemical, or Aeronautical from an accredited college or university
  • Self-Starter, with the ability to develop, document, and execute engineering assignments with limited supervision
  • Engineering Design and Validation experience in Thermal Power Plant Equipment, such as; gas turbine accessories or similar
  • Experience working with a globally based Engineering team
  • Experience working in a cross-functional organization, such as; controls, combustion, performance
  • Ability to rapidly change directions for multiple concurrent projects based on emergent business priorities
  • Ability to mentor less experienced engineers, both locally and across a global team environment
  • Effective interpersonal and influencing skills
  • Effective communication skills, both oral and written
  • Demonstrated technical skills
