Role Summary/Purpose: The Probabilistic Safety/Risk Assessment Engineer (PSA/PRA) will be responsible for developing, maintaining and updating the Probabilistic Risk Assessment (PRA) models for the GEH Advanced Light Water Reactors (ABWR and ESBWR) and next-generation non-Light Water Reactors (PRISM). Act as the Subject Matter Expert for PSA/PRA technical areas. Provide day-to-day support to GEH Nuclear Plant Projects (ABWR/ESBWR) and the fleet of operating BWRs
Essential Responsibilities: This role demonstrates proficiency in communicating business goals, programs, and processes for the Probabilistic Safety Assessment discipline. In this role, you will:


  • Provide support for specific PSA technical elements (e.g., CCF, data analysis, heavy load model, etc.) and other Risk-Informed initiative projects / programs
  • Perform analyses utilizing PSA codes to remove unneeded regulatory burden without impacting plant safety
  • Prepare reports and documentation in support of PSA assessments, peer reviews, and studies along with other Risk-Informed initiatives
  • Write specifications, deliverable descriptions and procedures which consistently produce quality deliverables with diverse resources
  • Apply questioning attitude to resolve uncertainties in communication
  • Respect other communication styles; apply patience, and diplomacy
  • Interface with other engineering disciplines to ensure continuity, quality and schedule adherence
  • Support quality requirements, including participation in design reviews, initiating and responding to Corrective Actions
  • Provide on-time, quality delivery of equipment packages and engineering documentation in accordance with contract requirements, business procedures, and regulatory agency guidelines
  • Participate as a presenter or reviewer in technical and program reviews
  • Support Company initiatives: Simplification, LEAN, DFSS & DMAIC Six Sigma, New Product Introduction and Digitization
  • Qualifications/Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nuclear Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Sciences, Applied Mathematics or Statistics from an accredited university or college
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in the area of PSA / PRA and systems / plant or other analysis
  • Additional Eligibility Qualifications: GE will only employ those who are legally authorized to work in the United States for this opening. Any offer of employment is conditioned upon the successful completion of a background investigation and drug screen.

  • Master’s Degree in an engineering discipline from an accredited university or college
  • Strong analytical skills and system regulatory basis knowledge

  • Experience with GE documentation system, practices and requirements
  • Familiar with Regulatory Process for Risk-Informed initiatives include Regulatory Guide

  • General knowledge of all aspects of Level 1, Level 2, and Level 3 PSA, including both internal and external events, with detailed knowledge in one or more areas
  • Knowledge of EPRI ALWR PRA Assumptions and Ground Rules Requirements
  • Experience with PRA codes, preferably CAFTA
  • Experience in PSA of Boiler Water Reactors
  • Six-Sigma Green Belt certification or equivalent quality certification
