Role Summary/Purpose: The Controls Engineer / Technologist will demonstrate accountability for functional, business, and broad company objectives involving Controls solutions in the field of embedded engine control software.
Essential Responsibilities:

In addition you will:

  • Work in a global team of electrical, controls and SW engineers on developing state of the art control systems for reciprocating engines
  • Contribute to and lead projects focused on development and implementation of engine control strategies
  • Lead the execution of design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements
  • Support diagnostics development including strategy development, modeling and simulation
  • Prototype new engine control concepts / enhancements through modeling and simulation
  • Support Model- / Hardware-in- the-Loop verification & validation of new engine controllers
  • Use simulation techniques for control system rapid prototyping and product development
  • Write and review specifications, test plans and other documentation
  • Support / lead other functional areas for the transition from product development to release
  • Contribute to cross-functional teams throughout the business to improve or resolve manufacturing, product center, supplier, or field issues
  • Qualifications/Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited college or university
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in embedded controls software development
  • Additional Eligibility Qualifications: GE will only employ those who are legally authorized to work in the United States for this opening. Any offer of employment is conditioned upon the successful completion of a background investigation and drug screen.
    Desired Characteristics:
  • Experience and understanding of production software development processes with a strong background in specification development and validation and verification techniques
  • Experience in field of controls development related to internal combustion engine systems and/or vehicles and/or aircraft
  • Experience with implementing model based controls
  • Experience with modeling, simulation, and calibration tools used in engine control system development
  • Experience with Simulink modeling and embedded code development for rapid prototyping and production release
  • Experience developing and implementing advanced control diagnostics and prognostics
  • Experience with safety related software
  • Familiarity with MAAB, MISRA, and other standards related to model based design and embedded code development
  • Organizational skills required to manage multiple projects and/or activities and technical project personnel internal and remote
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
