Role Summary/Purpose: In this role, the Senior Aero-thermal Engineer, Combustion will:
Essential Responsibilities: In addition, you will:


  • Develop combustion aero thermal designs for World-Class Gas Turbine Engines considering cost, operability, reliability, and emissions in a team environment and future leadership roles
  • Invent solutions to complex aero thermal design problems to enable advancements in gas turbine performance, reliability, and emissions
  • Conduct predictive thermal heat transfer, emissions, dynamics, and combustion performance modeling using 1D and 3D tools including flow network, CFD, and proprietary tools
  • Design combustion systems to meet program goals related to combustion system and overall gas turbine product requirements
  • Develop pre-test design predictions and methods to validate and assure the aero thermal performance of combustion systems
  • Conduct laboratory and field-testing of components and combustion systems to validate aero thermal performance
  • Interact with Worldwide GE Combustion community to establish and communicate best practices, latest technical breakthroughs, and contributions
  • Work with entire gas turbine design team to assure system level approach to meet product goals
  • Qualifications/Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited College or University
  • A minimum of 8 years engineering experience of practical application
  • Additional Eligibility Qualifications: GE will only employ those who are legally authorized to work in the United States for this opening. Any offer of employment is conditioned upon the successful completion of a background investigation and drug screen.
    Desired Characteristics:
  • Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Combustion from an accredited College or University
  • Excellent understanding of combustion, emissions, and gas turbine design
  • Experience in fluid mechanics, heat transfer, and empirical testing
  • Demonstrated strong technical skills
  • Proficiency in programming languages, specifically, Fortran
  • Strong computer skills using MS Office
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral
