Role Summary/Purpose: As a PV Designer / Engineer you will support activities related to the design and construction of commercial, behind-the-meter solar PV plants. In this role you will join a team of dedicated solar enthusiasts with an eye on managing costs to budget while maximizing customer value.
Essential Responsibilities: In addition you will:


  • Electrically design PV plants and monitoring systems including 1-Line and 3-Line drawing creation
  • Create Mechanical system layouts
  • Develop cost models of various PV systems
  • Create project proposals
  • Support customer meetings as technical representative
  • Identify new products to stay in compliance with national and local codes
  • Participate in project deployments, monitoring, and debugging activity of key test sites
  • Perform modeling of PV systems
  • Technically support assistance of business and market development needs
  • Complete interconnect and state application packages
  • Interact with and oversee subcontractors
  • Qualifications/Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, or Computer Science from an accredited college or university (or a High School Diploma / GED with a minimum of 4 years of IT, engineering, scientific or other technical experience)
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in an engineering position
  • Additional Eligibility Qualifications: GE will only employ those who are legally authorized to work in the United States for this opening. Any offer of employment is conditioned upon the successful completion of a background investigation and drug screen.
    Desired Characteristics:
  • AutoCAD experience
  • B.S. or M.S. from an accredited college or university
  • Familiarity with all MS Office products
  • Strong Analytical skills
  • Solar PV project design / build history and 3 years experience in solar / power industry
  • Proficient with understanding of NEC code, building codes, structural codes, etc
  • Experience in power systems, ideally in the PV or semiconductor industry
  • Experience with monitoring and communications systems, weather stations
  • Technically self-sufficient and highly motivated
  • Strong technical writing ability
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Experience with PVSYST or other PV modeling software
  • NABCEP or other certifications are a plus
  • PE license a plus
  • Revit, Sketch up a plus
